How one Local Guide shares his passion for ice cream on Google Maps

@DeniGu gulab jamun is made up of milk solids . Heat the milk until it reduced to a thick consistency of a soft dough .

I will suggest you some more good Indian sweets like kheer , imarti , jalebi , ras malai , rasgulla , gajar ka halwa , moong dal halwa and many more. Whenever you will come to India i will definitely give you a treat of Indian sweets :yum: .

You may see my post on traditional Indian sweets

Thanks and have a nice day

@SP31 You need to share more about nitrogen ice cream! Do you have a photo to share? And does the nitrogen change the flavor of the ice cream it’s added to? :open_mouth:

Great photo of your ice cream in front of Tower Bridge, @DrShaunak ! For once, it’s not the bridge that’s the star of the picture. What flavor are you having?

@DeniGu I love this article! It never ceases to surprise that each culture has their own versions of the same standard favorites, and ice cream is just the perfect example. One of my favorite experiences as a Local Guide was visiting a tiny ice cream shop crammed into a space barely big enough to fit the coolers in a streetside market in Kona, Hawaii. That shop made ube ice cream - a special flavor that comes from a local potato-like tuber that is naturally a vivid purple and has a flavor I have been unable to find anywhere else. I became such a fan of the flavor that I tracked it down everywhere I could for the rest of my trip.

Rural/ urban area handmade ice cream :

It’s now rare because they can’t fight and win modern ice cream factory marketing policy. Traditional ice cream factory electricity and other cost much more than modern that’s why slowly they shut down their factories.

Very few in capital but it’s like for festival or any program people offer guest handmade ice cream or cookies.

Our ice cream factory: 1980-2004 we run bakery pastry and ice cream factory also but main problem is my father and uncle not upgrade themselves with modern technology that’s why this business falling loss and shut down. Another reason 1990 in Bangladesh grow up readymade garments industry and our family focus on that.

Hey @Kwiksatik , it’s often the little, unassuming places that hide the biggest gems, isn’t it? I might know one more place that has the ube ice cream - Japan. Your photo and description immediately made me think of the purple sweet potato flavor I tried there a few times. I wonder if @yamamo_cchi has tried it?

It’s really a sad story, @MahabubMunna , about the decline of handmade ice cream in Bangladesh. It makes supporting small local and family businesses even more important. Thank you for this reminder.

I appreciate you sharing the story of your family factory, too. Times and demand really change over time.

@DeniGu small business does not sustain itself because of all about money. Now people love to show off as like buy cloth from Brand shop, Drink/eat a good decoration place or decorated food because the need to share in SOcial media or gossip with others. it’s a south Asian present situation.

If you carefully observe Bangladesh Local Guides Activities we arrange every whare our meetup Ground to the top also support small businesses too. Meetup T-shirt and food all other collects from Small business owner .

Hello dear friend, @DeniGu ,

Hi, Local Guide Flavio Karpinski (@DionysusOverdrive) - I appreciate your dedication.

Let me be honest…I am not an Ice cream fan… and, in fact, I don’t love sweet items.

But, I love to photograph Ice creams because of their different colours & textures.

Here is one from my collections

Hope you will like this.

Haha so right @DeniGu . Coincidentally, it was about this time of year back in 2017, or perhaps it was 2018, when we were in Cadiz and I recall that it was as hot as it is there now when the only thing on your mind was ice cream lol. The lady sat patiently waiting on a bench while I ordered and then attempted to walk out with that double-scooper, super duper in a close to 40 deg European Summer’s day lol!!!

I have various faves but my all time fave has to be the rich, dark XXX chocolate from Jock’s here in Albert Park. This ice creamery is only a few minutes away from us here at home lol. Do you have a fave? I tell you what Deni, when you visit down under I’ll treat you to a Jock’s

Yes! I know a little about ice creams! :joy: :joy: :joy:

My favorite flavor is ā€œDulce de Leche Splitā€

This is cream of Dulce de Leche , mixed with real dulce de leche… Is really a magic flavor :cyclone:

Here in Argentina every flavor with the ā€œsplitā€ word in the end indicates that it has dulce de leche added with the original flavor.

Example : Banana Split is banana with dulce de leche, Chocolate Split is chocolate with dulce de leche…and so on.

Regarding the gluten free ice cream stores, I have been always adding if there is available this kind of products, cause people with this food allergy problem needs to know where they can find suitable food for their disease.

They can’t eat any food, they should eat gluten free products.

Have you tried dulce de leche flavor?

@DeniGu my answer is ICE COFFEE.Because I love coffee and ice creams. And espresso,a bit of sugar and a lot of small pieces of ice served in a long Cristal glass is enough.I am sure you Flavio know about that.Good to talk to you.
