How can I download my photos posted to Maps?

@VBenedict

This is what I see (in Italian) in every photo on the archive. Scarica = Download

The only options the three dots drop-down provide me with are settings and about archive

However, if I tap the file then the individual image allows me to dl that specific image or group of images but not the entire Album.

I also noticed that the downloaded images are noo longer sharp and crisp

You need to open the photo to ā€œFull Screenā€, to have the download option, @VBenedict

Help, this is really crucial. I wrote a review and posted some photos of a bakery, but I made a mistake. I posted them, on a bakery of the same name found only a few meters away from the one that I was supposed to. I must make up for it asap, because more and more people are gonna see my photos, and they’ll realize what I have done.

But that’s not the problem. I could just delete my review and photos from the wrong place, and post them to the actual place. The problem is, that I deleted my photos from my mobile before realizing what I’ve done. Which means the only solution is to download them, since they exist only in Google Maps. Not on my phone.

But…I am the uploader!!! Why I just can’t download MY photos??? I just want them back, in order to post them to the actual location. I feel very bad of what I did…I want to make up for it. Please help me. I tried to make a full screen, as the post above says, but it doesn’t work. What should I do???

There’s also the solution, to delete my review and photos, and lose everything. I don’t want this to happen. I didn’t go to this place in vain.

Have you not activated the auto-archive feature on your phone @NiStefan ?
I suggest you activate that immediately. Backing up a photo archive in High-Quality format doesn’t occupy any space on Google Drive.
To download the photos, please follow the steps mentioned by @ermest in this current thread. You will get the entire collection uploaded to Maps & then choose the relevant one for re-upload.

So…how do I activate it?

I followed the link with the albums archive from @ErmesT , but I found no photos from the google maps in general.

We cannot download images at any places from google map to our desktop Computer. The images may be subject to copy write. In the process of reporting irrelevant photos, I have noticed that we can download the image from google map.

Steps:

1) Open the photo

  1. Click on Select Three Dot and click Report a problem

  2. Then the photo will be re-open in a separate page, on right clicking on the image we can save it on our desktop.

Google may restrict the photo to be copied as it is subject to Copy write.

We had a recent conversation exactly about this subject: How can I download my photos posted to Maps? , post started by @C_T .

I am merging your post in there, so you can see the various suggestions.

In addition please note that the respect of the copyright is responsibility of everyone of us. There are a lot of ways to download photos on the web, and Google Maps is one of the platform that better protect the author’s right (you have to use a workaround to download a photo that is not yours)

Hello. I also trying to download my own panorama file.
The problem is, what I can’t find panoramas files at https://get.google.com/albumarchive/
But I remember, what before it was there.

Can you guide me?
Thank you in advance

I have few pics which I had contributed to google maps and deleted the local copy to save space.

Now I want to download it for my collection but there is no option.

Where google stores it and why cant I download my own contributed pics.

For Example I want this pic of mine (which has over 180k views):

Hi @arunbansal509

Great question. There are several methods. The one which is not recommended is just to save the photo since that will not give you the maximum resolution.

I normally use a Desktop and start (without finishing) the process of reporting the photo. On a desktop, a copy of the photo will be shown in the max resolution. From there you can easily do the Save as.

I also use Google Photos as a backup for my photos. That is actually very easy and saves bandwidth when uploading them to Google Maps because they are transferred directly between servers rather than you need to upload them twice.

There are more methods if you need more info.

Cheers

Morten

Hello @arunbansal509

I posted the identical question without expectation of any answer.

However, I received a solution. You can refer to that.

That’s a neat trick @MortenCopenhagen

I have been struggling to download my Google Maps photos for a PoI for a long time and the screen capture did not look good.

Thanks a bunch :+1:

Hey @arunbansal509 ,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

I just wanted to let you know that I will merge your post the discussion mentioned by @C_T , where you will find some ideas, in order to keep the forum organized. However, I’d like to remind you that we do not recommend downloading images that are not your own due to copyright.

Hey @Bobiisha

Thanks for replying.

I want to download my own pics only. There should be an option of save as/download for own pics atleast through browser/app.

there is no save as option on desktop view.

The problem is I used to backup my photos to Google photos including ones for maps now I can do that. I often take 1,000 photos a week for Google maps and if I want to back them up it cost me money so I am doing great work for google maps but now I have to pay for the privilage thats so wrong Google should be supporting guides not making them pay. SO now I have no backup on photos for all I post on maps.

At least make it so we can download are own photos simply or give us extra space as a level 10 I have dont a lot for maps

Hello, today I came across this old thread as I just find myself in need to recover several of my photos contributed to Google Maps (a phone upgrade gone badly messed up some of my original photos)

Following the suggestion of @ErmesT to access https://get.google.com/albumarchive/ , unfortunately i find an empty page with no content. Google might have changed that feature since this original post was written?

Appreciate if you can share whether there’s an updated method to download our own contributed content to Maps. Thank you**!**

*** UPDATE w/solution *** came back to reply to my own question. Album Archive seems in the process to be deprecated by Google. Maybe that’s why it does not show any personal content anymore.

However, there’s a last resort to recover one’s own photos contributed to Maps: go to takeout.google.com . In the option of ā€œdata to includeā€ select ā€œMapsā€ and within that option there’s a sub-option to choose Photos and/or other types of map content (I left it all selected just to see what would come back) - but definitely we want the Contributed Photos here.

The process will create download zip file/s with several folders of mapping content in it, one of which had my contributed photos. One thing to note: file sizes where smaller than original, so it means some quality is dropped by either the mapping contribution or the retrieval processes.

Hope this helps someone in need.
