Ciao @ErmesT ,

and hello to the whole community,

For me, this has been much more than just an extraordinary year.

Google, the Local Guides community, and the new friends I’ve made have truly surprised and dazzled me. From the amazing video to the trip to New York and the chance to meet so many wonderful people, these were powerful emotions that I wish everyone could experience. It has truly been a great year for me.

For me was also a year of mapping the world, one contribution at a time that now is coming to a close. Looking back, I’m proud of every review, photo, and edit that helped someone find the right path or the perfect spot.

But the best is yet to come: I wish us all a 2026 full of new discoveries, with the goal of making our community even more united, active, and inspiring for every traveler out there.

Happy New Year to all my fellow Local Guides!

always remember, take care and enjoy life!

Un abbraccio a tutti

As an expert Local Guide, how do you think our community will be in 2026?

@ErmesT Great question. Google has already kicked off the celebrations by announcing Connectlive 2026 in three different locations. This will help community bring together, regionally (to some extent globally!)

  1. I am pretty sure community and moderators are planning 12 month calendar based on themes for each moth.
  2. Probably a 10th anniversary Badge for Anniversary participants in connect
  3. 10th Anniversary Global Logo Design Challenge!
  4. I am pretty sure @AdrianLunsong is planning a Community Spotlight 2.0 after a overwhelming response to community spotlight this year.

@ErmesT Happy New Year, my friend! :sparkles: It’s clear to me that nothing is sustainable over time unless it has several elements that remain constant :beating_heart: . Connect has turned 10 years old, overcoming the barrier of boredom. It’s like a relationship between two people: on one side we have Google (Googlers, moderators) and on the other side we have all the users (including me). If the relationship lacks spark, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in moving forward, then it won’t prosper. 10 years means that the foundations seem solid, the roots are strong. Now, it’s up to all of us to keep watering this tree. (I changed analogies, lol).

Bye Bye 2025 :waving_hand: | Welcome 2026 :globe_showing_europe_africa:

As 2025 comes to an end, I just want to pause and say thank you.

This year on Google Maps wasn’t only about adding reviews, photos, or edits. It was about helping real people — someone finding a good place to eat, someone reaching a destination easily, or a small business getting noticed.

A big thank you to the Google Maps team for creating such a powerful platform, and to the Local Guides community for always showing up with honesty and dedication. Every small contribution truly mattered.

Stepping into 2026, I’m feeling motivated and excited. There are more places to explore, more stories to share, and more ways we can help our communities through Maps.

Let’s keep contributing with the same passion, kindness, and responsibility.
One review, one photo, one edit at a time.

Wishing everyone a year full of exploration and meaningful contributions :sparkles:

How was your Local Guides journey in 2025? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

As we step into 2026, I’d like to extend my warmest wishes to all Local Guides around the world. Thank you for being part of such an inspiring, diverse, and impactful community.

The past year was filled with meaningful contributions—adding places to the map, improving accessibility information, supporting small and local businesses, sharing honest reviews, photos, and stories that help millions of people every day. Each edit, answer, meetup, and post truly made a difference.

Thank you for your passion, dedication, and kindness. I’m excited to see what we will achieve together in 2026.
