When I started on Maps, I didn’t do many food photos, as my lifestyle doesn’t often take me inside food places. Indeed, many of my food photos now are deliberate deviations from my normal lunchtime, just for the sake of my LG role.
I was impressed by Morten’s “Storefront Series”, and have often found that when everyone else is posting the contents of various stores - food, furniture, or anything else - I add a simple external photo of the place thats selling the stuff and it gets featured.

By the way, I learnt yesterday that New Connect limits how many consecutive replies a member can post, so I had to pause hold this one until someone else posted.
When I experienced that yesterday, it caused me to remember a certain very friendly LG who replies to every single person who participates in a thread no matter how small their part. This would be a big change for him.
The question is now, what exactly means “… 4 consecutive replies”? In what time frame? Or related to a single thread/topic? Or what …?
So far, I did not see this message, but I only use the desktop for Connect and did not count, how many times I was responding … probably less.
Possibly, the last phrase gives a clue: “Please edit your previous reply, or wait for someone to replay to you.”:
You cannot reply to more than four different users in the same thread, unless you pack replies to multiple users/comments into the same post …?
Remember, there is a way to include multiple quotes into a single post.
I just found an example, Tony. If you add three more comments to the same thread, you’ll hit the limit again:

If an additional thought comes up (which happens often to me ), better go back and edit the previous comment, instead of adding a new one to the same thread.
I might have brought this up initially so i will chime in. The reason why i take artistic photos is not to make that photo featured but because being a photographer is in my blood lol. I used to do this professionally and sold photos worldwide. It allows me to enjoy the photo process and time invested in this hobby.
Belueve it or not, i have had numerous mall management offices stay in touch with me and even use some of my photos on their websites. This makes things enjoyable for me and keeps me motivated.
So, my first photo will be plain and try to capture the storefront, the address, clearly. I was unaware of what Mort said regarding this autocropping that occurs.
I always want this to stay a fun hobby for me, and at the same time provide informative photos of each store and food I order.
This might be the answer to your initial question, Steven. Either you put more emphasis on taking “better” photos according to your standards or the algorithm did change in favor of @MortenCopenhagen’s rules or both.
I make photos since 60 years, purely as amateur, but I very rarely do so just for Maps. Instead, I mainly take photos for myself and then see, if I can post some. Whether and how many views they gain, is just an interesting thing to follow up later. The same for featured or cover photos. @tony_b@TerryPG

Getting back to “featured or cover photo” I am agreeing with what @tony_b mentioned, That is the photo that represents the place if you search for it on Google Maps. In our own contributions list via a computer web browser, you’ll find that along with the POI name and our photos, there’s a small photo to the top left which may or may not be one of your own. Again, that is the cover photo, and the one that everyone sees when they visit that place on the map.
@StevenBerlin I went thru my last 11 days contributions There were 55 videos and 20 photos posted. I did attain 1 featured photo but interestingly I achieved 6 featured videos. Here is one now.
I have been spending more time taking and experimenting with what Google likes for videos.
Tony I am wondering if the limitations in consecutive posts will affect @AdamGT 's leaderboard’s Posts?
The whole community seems so quiet and this is the only thread I’m working on. The four consecutive posts were not even done in a rapid-fire robotic manner, but took me from 10:14 am to 5:24 pm. During that time no one else said anything. Then the fifth post was blocked.
Today is a bit different, as I posted once followed by 5 comments by you and @MortenCopenhagen , then a second one by me followed by 4 by you and Morten plus @StevenBerlin and @TerryPG . So now this third one won’t count as consecutive if I understand it correctly.
But I’m longing to get back to seeing notifications of posts in multiple threads all day, so I don’t have to spend the whole day in the same conversation.
Okay, if consecutive means 5 replies from one person in the same discussion without anyone else replying in between those 5 replies, I think this is a standard spam prevention measure. I sometimes have 2 replies in line if I forgot a point in my first reply. So, don’t you think we can easily avoid this by editing a previous reply rather than keep making new replies?
Not sure about that @tony_b . I rather believe notifications works quite differently now. With the old Connect, I got many more via email, now only a few and I rely much more on the notifications in the upper right corner of the desktop browse:
Besides that, I follow some users, I remembered the names. Apparently this also increases the number of notifications.
As I said in my previous comment, the word consecutive needs further clarification and I like Morten’s explanation:
Yes I agree Morten, and I only spent so much time posting in one thread because I’m not yet in any other active thread. This won’t usually be a problem for me.
