@SoniaK my opinion, that Kazan can be “weekend trip”. Two days is quite enough for visiting main points of interest in the city, maybe one more day for visiting some nearby town.
The main destination in Russia, I guess, should be Saint Petersburg and Moscow. These are very large agglomerations, with a huge number of tourist attractions, in the city itself, and in the region nearby.

Saint Petersburg and Moscow have always been in my list for a pretty long time. But like I said, just because of the weather I didn’t dare to make a plan yet. I will remember your tips @SergeySud and I will contact you before I plan for Russia. Thank you once again for sharing the wonderful photos of the mosque and the tips.
