You did it correctly, Steven! But there are always ways to make it nicer.
Oh Mr @StevenBerlin !
Aside I can understand your strugglesâŚIâve posted it an uncountable times missing the right place I should at any try
âŚ..
I hope itâs done by now!
If isnât yet feel free to let us know and I highly think could provide some quiet assistance for it ! Even the team still available for you as well..
Even mine is not confirmed yet!
#LG.
Yes @Laurent. Both you and @StevenBerlin have successfully posted in the right place. And you copied the Caption perfectly, but pasted it separately rather than attached to the photo. Small detail at this point in time.
@Laurent copying the Leaderboard Systemâs automatically generated caption and then pasting it in your Connect post as I believe you have done, is the best way to do this as it getâs both the caption details and format right.
Regarding @tony_bâs point about pasting it separately, in the old Connect that was the way to do it but unfortunately itâs a little different on the new Connect. However, having said that, I myself like to do it both ways - paste it (1) separately below the image as you have done and (2) within the image. The procedure for (2) is simple so let me explain:
- Edit your post
- Select Show Preview
- Select the pencil edit icon at the bottom left side of the image
- Paste the Leaderboard Systemâs auto generated caption in the caption field
- Select the tick to save your new caption.
My longer term plan is to allow Local Guides to generate the total post (properly formatted, centered screenshot, captions, heading, description, star views history, link backs to previous star(s) etc) on the T100 System from where youâll simply copy and paste it into Connect. If I only had time ![]()
So i just updated my star photo, but i was not able to figure out how to paste the t100 system caption on top of my image, and I decided I didnât want to mess up everything so I pasted it below the image.
I canât spend more time than 2 hours on something like this which to me is extra extra hard. So accept it or delete my star photo. Thx. Its in the 2025 album. I am not spending more time on this.
Very good @StevenBerlin. You will see in the post just above yours where @AdamGT says both methods are acceptable. I still do mine the way I was taught, but I see more Local Guides now doing it the way youâve done it. Congrats, and please keep up the momentum. Youâre making progress.
Your list says my photo has 2,335,339 views. In reality, as shown in the photo, the views are 5,876,554. I donât know where I went wrong.
Thanks
Hello @DENIT33
Sorry for my delay in responding as Iâm currently travelling. Please note that you posted your comment in the 2023 Album of Star photos when for convenience each year we start a new album so Iâve moved your comment here. Please also note that we post our star photo or video in the respective star photo or star video album and we post any comments, questions etc on these in the related discussion post. You can read about this in the opening of this thread here.
Now to your specific question. The last time you used the Leaderboard System to update your star photo details was at 12:42:07 on 2023-11-06 and you entered 2,335,339 for your star photoâs views and this is why you are seeing this value today. When it comes to star photos or star videos, you need to use the Leaderboard System to update your views etc each month this way you retain your proper position on the star photo leaderboards and avoid the risk of dropping off completely, and your views history will be correctly recorded and maintained.
I have a couple of questions.
- What is the âIDâ exactly in the views history tables, and where can I get the number from (I guess the top100 webpage)?
- Is it important to add the caption embedded in the figure as well in the text or just with either of them it is enough?
The Views History table is created by the system, and the ID# is generated as part of that process. You donât need to get the number from anywhere.
Either method is acceptable @Trachemysta. If you scroll a short way up the page youâll see where I told @StevenBerlin it is just old method versus new method, and I continue to use the older method that was originally indicated when I joined.
Issue While Updating Data on Top 100 Local Guide Leaderboard â Star Photo
With the help of @PrasadVR I was updating my data in the Top 100 Local Guide Leaderboard â Star Photo category. However, the process got stuck midway, and I was unable to complete the update. Below are the issues I encountered:
-
I had already registered for this process last month and submitted my details for the Star Photo category. Ideally, the previously filled informationâsuch as the category and the date of the photoâshould have been auto-filled, but I was required to re-enter all the details again.
-
When I tried to paste the Star Photo link, the system showed an error stating the link was invalid, even though the link is correct.
- I had already selected the category of the image during my previous submission last month. However, this time it showed Accessibility by default, and I had to manually correct it to Bar & Restaurant.
Kindly look into this issue and guide me on how to proceed so I can successfully complete the update.
Iâm not sure whereâs the best place to insert this warning @AdamGT
ATTENTION ALL LGs
When entering my end of month data tonight, the button that says âIâm a Pro, take me to the tableâ, took me to the Star Video Views history table while I was in the Star Photos page. Be very careful what you Copy & Paste. I had to go back to the old way to get the correct information.
Sorry for my late reply @Ruchee2 notwithstanding that it is the festive season a time to spend time with family and friends, I have been caught up on other major developments. The most important point I can make is that your link is incorrect, please check the online help for that field. The Leaderboard Systemâs context sensitive help is your best friend. Learn how to use it as your first point of call and youâll save yourself a lot of time and frustration.
I understand the dilemma and either or both discussion posts is good for this sort of issue.
Please note that this issue has now been fixed.
Hi dear @AdamGT
Thank you for taking out time to reply amidst of festivities and holiday.
I would like to tell you that later I have tried this process again next day (yesterday and today both) with the correct link:
https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t/local-guides-2025-album-of-star-photos/468182/71?u=ruchee2
But again even when I feed this my form does not get accepted
This error is constant no matter how many times I tried this. I tried on phone and laptop both.
Now even I tried the correct link its still showing me the error link again
Kindly help @AdamGT
@PrasadVR is also trying his best to look into it.
Thanks, Adam. Will see how it goes next time around.
Hello @Ruchee2
I just tried adding your star using the correct link and had no problem. I will pm you and see if we can get you going before itâs time for the December Leaderboards.
Yes please @AdamGT looking forward for it. Let me add before the opportunity disappears.
Thank you
No need to wait until next time @tony_b.
- Open that form
- Select Submit without needing to make any data changes
- Check what pops up
Done. All is well now @AdamGT.
