First of all, it is great that this event is starting. I am sure that many of us feel the excitement and happiness there. But there are some sad points. First of all, it is sad and surprising that I have not received any invitation despite being a 2022 guiding star. Secondly, it is quite nice that it is organized in different regions and countries for participants to join from different countries, but there are many local guides from European countries here. If one of these meeting points was a city in Europe, we could really participate as many guides.

Great to know the event is back and Google is handing out something different to socks and pins this year.
Well deserved @AdamGT and great that you can take the trip. I am sure all selected members put much of their time and energy into maps and deserve a little thank you.
I hope it will also an opportunity for you to put some improvements for the contributors making our lives slightly easier.
Maybe open a channel for more direct access into key map product manager and get to put suggestions that can influence the roadmap?
I am sure there are millions of those.

It is great that this event is starting again and like you that many feel the buzz and excitement. COVID-19 certainly had a major impact on the continuation of the event from 2020 however, while disappointed, we all accept and understand the reasons why.
I can understand that those that have not received an invitation would be sad. It is very competitive so we just have to continue making consistent and positive involvement with the Local Guides community, and contributions on Google Maps.

Never spent a fraction of my LG energy on them.
