Only share photos you have taken yourself or received permission to use directly from the copyright owner. Do not download and post photos from Google Search, Google Maps, social media, stock photo websites, or elsewhere on the internet without receiving permission from the owner of that photo.
Give credit in the caption for images you have permission to use. In the photo caption, write, “(Courtesy of ‘Copyright Holder’s Name’).”
So do you have permission? If so, you will need to give credit by mentioning the copyright owner’s name.
Should you chose not to follow these guidelines your post is in risk of being removed.
Looks like you didn’t read the article I shared with you. Well, you should do it.
What “Collected” does it means in your photo? Collected means nothing, if the photo is not declared as “copyright free”. When you take a photo from Wikipedia, like the one mentioned by @MortenCopenhagen you will see that the indication is Public Domain. In there you will find the Reusing content outside Wikimedia link. As you will read, the conditions for reusing an image are not to just write “Collected”.
If the “Copyright Free” indication is not present, you should never use that content, because by definition the copyright free must be declared". This is a Must, not an opinion.
What if I post this photo in Social Media, taking or embedding it from your contributions in Maps?
The photo is yours, would be You happy if I just post it and I write “Sourced”?
I am not casually sharing this photo with you, @SanjayBDLG . The reason is that this photo is part of a set of three added by you in 10 different Locations. According to the Community policy :
“Take photos that clearly and accurately represent a location …**”
“Dark, blurry, and redundant photos will be removed. Users who duplicate photos across locations, … will also be removed.”
"Do not pass off someone else’s words as your own.If you are sharing words someone else has written, use quotation marks around the statement and link to the source where you found that information. It should be clear which words are yours and which are someone else’s.
If you do not use a direct quote, tell us in your own words what you read somewhere else.Do not copy and paste it without using quotes or attribution. Include a link to the source."
That’s why I am asking you to edit your post. As you can see, there is a way to write and share Historical Information by respecting Copyright rules.
@ErmesT The photo you have added that is place of Bangabazar Shopping Complex where a devastated fire occurred so thousands of shops had been destroyed. There are many shops have been marked in Google maps which are now permanently closed. Now it is impossible to identify or provide the right picture of the shop. That’s why one photo has been given to understand that there has no shop now.
You are a Local Guide, @SanjayBDLG , and a mentor for many other Local Guides.
You know that this is against the rules.
Flag the locations as Permanently Closed, and ask other Local Guides to flag it as closed too. This is the procedure for closing a place. As you can see your photos didn’t helped
