Celebrating Thanksgiving as a global community

@Ewaade_3A hugging is a very special thing and even forbidden in certain cultures or religions. In Italy we are looking for a strong hug. It is a psychological condition that should be analyzed. If you are in Italy and (only with your closest friends, not everyone, mind you, the hug is reserved only for true friends), if the hug is not deep and strong, it means that there is fear, that there is something to take care of in the person or in the relationship between the two. You can understand so many things from how a person hugs! I do not know in your country and in your culture what embrace means, and I would like to know, here I could say that it is also a form of thanks to the other because it exists! Sometimes in the squares there are people who distribute free hugs to all who wish. throwing yourself into someone else’s arms is a great show of trust, what do you think?

A little hug :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:

Part 1

Thanks @TraciC for this post.

There are many people and things to which I am grateful, starting with life itself. Therefore, thanks to LIFE, and to what it teaches us day after day. Living makes us grow, and makes us, or at least I hope, better people.

And then, thanks to @AntonellaGr , she has been sharing this life with me for over twenty years, in good times and in dark ones. We have learned a lot over the years, and much of what we have done would not have been possible if we had not wanted to and done it together.

Thanks to this community, which welcomed me and taught me a lot in these five years together. There are many people I would like to mention in this post, so forgive me if I forget a few.

I want to start with my first Connect Moderator, @FaridTDF , the one who received me and guided my first steps in Connect, then becoming a personal friend.

Together with Farid, of course there is @KarenVChin , the friend and “partner in crime” with whom we share every moment, especially the most difficult ones, She was sitting “virtually” next to me while, in the long night of a year ago I was sitting outside the hospital waiting for a doctor to call me, waiting to hear that dreaded word, that word we have come to know and that can mark the boundary between life and death.

Thanks to this community that in the darkest period of my life kept a window on the world open for me, allowing me, during a long quarantine, to maintain contact with reality.

Thanks to @Cecilita and the whole South American community. In 2019 we became friends, and in the long winter of last year she helped me feel useful. In the dark, she kept a light on for me.

Well, thanks to Google, I want to add, for the opportunities that Google has offered me, and thanks to @Kwiksatik for accompanying me in my first steps in this new adventure called Accessible Life. A year ago she and I both participated in Geo for Good 2020, and in those days we identified the technical details to be able to develop this project. Just tomorrow Accessible Life will be presented at Geo for Good 2021, where I will have a Talk and participate in a Panel (adventures in Accessibility) to talk about Accessible Life. The project was presented, along with three others, during the presentation of Geo for Good 2021, in “What’s new in Earth” highlights.

Accessible Life was developed, in its current form, during the winter of 2019. The friends and moderators of Connect helped me, with their comments, to give it its current form, to correct errors, to improve the graphics. Special thanks to @JanVanHaver , @PaulPavlinovich and @AdrianLunsong .

It seems incredible that a year later, exactly on the same day my mum passed away, Accessible Life will be presented in an “Official” event. Accessible Life was created with her in mind. Thanks Google.

There are still many people I would like to thank, starting with the Italian Community, and first of all @manulele81 , who made me discover how many ways Local Guides can be useful for others.

Thanks to everyone who tagged me in this thread. For space limits (tags) I will answer separately

Part 2

Since we talked about Accessible Life, I would like to say a few words to thank all those who have contributed to date, investing a part of their time in creating the maps of Accessible Places to be included in the program.

Thank you Erna, who was the first to face this adventure with passion, becoming an ambassador of Accessible Life in the world.

Thanks to @jayasimha78 , @AnshukMitra , @Globe_trotter_Ish , @NareshDarji , @LightRich , @LaloPadilla , @SebaasC , @Jesi

What you are doing can change the lives of many people.

So, “What’s new in Earth”? You, of course. You will be the actors of tomorrow’s show

There are people that I cannot tag because they are no longer in Connect, but I am very grateful to them. In my adventure as a Connect Moderator they were not only helpful, but frequently also good friends, and I still be In contact with many of them.

Thanks, MariaB, Bruce, Katie, Jaslyn, Luis, George, Gus, Corrie (well, she’s in Connect, @CorrieinNYC ) Brittany, Yanni.

I am thankful to ALL the actual Google Moderators. I only have a tag available, so let me tag @Giu_DiB on behalf of all of them. Grazie Giuseppe

Thanks for your tag, @Sophia_Cambodia
You are second to none when it comes to nature, especially if it is “edible”, and I learned a lot from you, knowing a country that I have not yet had the good fortune to visit, but of which I learn something more day after day.
Thank you for your support

Thanks for mentioning me @JaneBurunina

The Ukraine Group was absolutely inspiring for me. You, @uavalentine , @NatalkaR surprised me for the wine meet-up in Treviso, and @gandrabur_chik amazed me with her presentation about CleanTheWorld at The First Ukrainian Women LG Summit.

I am so grateful for what you did, and what you continue to do almost every day, for improving the world.

Hugs to all of you

Yes you are right, @CAAG1959 , how to call this other than a huge Family, so thank you for tagging me as a representative of this amazing group.

If you will have the opportunity to read my previous reply, you will discover how much helpful this family was for me, when everything was dark. it is indeed difficult to build a list, because it is the group itself that is helpful.

So thanks Local Guides, all of you

I wants the recipe of Erna’s noodles, @Erna_LaBeau :slightly_smiling_face:

I just showed you a path you already knew, Erna, you did the rest by yourself. It is nice to explain, when the person you talk to is listening to you, and you have made all of this yours. I just showed you a path you already knew, Erna, you did the rest by yourself. It is nice to explain, when the person you talk to is listening to you, and you have made all of this yours. All credits go to you, to your ability to have made known, also through Accessible Life, to the beauty of the country where you live. I am very grateful to you for that

Wow!

Now, I see that when @TraciC told me that it is not a bad thing to be inquisitive, she meant it!

How on earth would I have known that such a strong culture surrounds hugs and hugging in general in Italy.

I do not like to be hugged and I am surprised the reason for that you have already mentioned, but when I get to trust the person, I may consider a hug.

I hate to speak on ‘culture’ as there is no such thing as a 'Nigerian culture, we have over 550 languages spoken here!

In Northern Nigeria, you certainly have no business hugging anyone not to talk of a member of the opposite sex

@Sagir and @Nuhuu are from Northern Nigeria.

I don’t know what our people from the South-South or South-East consider about hugging, Gideon @GiddyXp may have something to tell us about that @Zino

I am from the South-West and we have customary greetings, the hug is Western @plavarda

Aw aw, Rafael and I will always do that.

Do you know what happened today?

I was looking for your Connect ID, guess the two words that came to mind to search on?

Corazón - I remember this clearly from your Valentine’s post and the second was Puerto Rico, but I did not have to use the second one.

So, if you think I support you, it is because supporting you on here comes naturally.

I want to say ‘cheers’ but the only Spanish word coming to mind right now is; ‘Saludos’ which I do not think properly expresses what I want to say but I believe you will understand me

Thanks for your comment, it made me smile @Nosaint2_Rafael_Fe
