Celebrating community milestones and exciting updates on Google Maps

Wow 150M of Local Guides, this is definitely THE milestone! It is a huge family which provides a huge contribution to Maps.

Very nice to read also about the photo update, this is indeed a great update to keep track of changes about a place. Looking forward seeing if this feature will be expanded to reviews as well where it might be quite useful, especially when places are visited after a while.

Thank you @KatieMcBroom for sharing those very exciting updates  .

Super psyched about these new features, @KatieMcBroom ! I’m rarely on GMaps on a desktop but the missing road tool seems intuitive and much more effective for properly adding roads.

Read a bit more into the photo updates on the Keyword blog and the way it is built in to allow updates from users now rather than only business owners is quite the game-changer, and I can only imagine it can help businesses as well who may be missing those key details and could use the help via UCG.

Of course, I always love seeing LG get love on the Keyword, and it’s exciting seeing incredible folks get the spotlight globally on Google’s blog.

Of all these updates though, my most wanted update finally came to my device today…

DARK MODE (hopefully you can hear me shrieking, @TraciC )

To say that I’m excited and delighted is an understatement - what a great start to the year for Google Maps and Local Guides!

Thanks for sharing this great news @KatieMcBroom

So happy and proud to know that our global community reaches 150M Local Guides. It means that our family is getting bigger and bigger :hugs:

Photo updates is the feature that I’ve been waiting for so long. Both business owner and customer will get mutual benefit from this feature. The simple example from a Foodie Local Guides’ perspective is we could add and see the most updated menu along with the price from a restaurant. Yayy!

@SP31 Steve, I love dark mode, too!

Good to see that your Google Maps can come up in dark mode. If I’m not mistaken, I can use dark mode on Google Maps since last year.
