Yes @tony_b I am retired now and yes I use to track manually. Here’s the post of when I switched from manually to @AdamGT leaderboards
@tony_b & Terry,
I’d just been thinking about all the different factors that affect one’s ability to be an active local guide. Like Terry, I’m also retired. I’m pretty sure that gives us some advantage. Other people travel for work to all kinds of busy High interest places. Some of us rarely leave town. While all the things we talk about that make up a good video or image are important, I still end up thinking that it’s the POI itself that controls the potential number of views. How can you beat a place like Grand Central Station in New York city?
Having completed my mid-month review of my top photos and top videos, I’m noticing further evidence that my newer videos are seeing an earlier and more rapid start to accumulating views than my older videos. I don’t think I’m taking better videos, nor doing better places, so it just seems that the algorithm is working differently.
I have been noticing that as well.
Congrats on the anniversary, @Rednewt74! I am so happy you joined this community and are active here. You have such a great attitude towards learning and understanding, paired with the intelligence to create new solutions to the little quirky issues we discover while pursuing this Mapping hobby.
Being able to see you in action last year to develop an entire email tracking system was so much fun. Your ability to break down a problem into steps and then build systems around it is astounding, honestly. Getting to work on your early tests and watching the evolution taught me so much.
When I started a Road Mapper challenge on a whim, your Stat Tracking system made it possible for us to record the group’s impact. Even if you were just trying to scratch an itch and fill in the gaps left by the RM system’s reporting, it was a gesture that was so sweet and meant a lot to me.
I feel very fortunate to be in your circle and get to know you on and off Connect. I’ve learned quite a lot from you and truly admire your drive to tackle big and complex analytical issues. The energy and passion you bring are second to none, man. Thank you for being part of our Connect Community.
Thanks for the mention @Rednewt74. I certainly remember your early days when we conversed both publicly on LG Connect as well as through the Private Message system. Congrats on all the progress you’ve made, and may you go on to shine brighter and brighter as you continue here.
Jake thank you so much for your kind words. It’s been great to get to know you and work on different projects together. Take care.
