Of a truth bread is now part of Igbo culture, because each time you travel, on your way back the expectation is that you will come home with city bread. Is a common thing for the people in the village to a

tell you “welcome wey bread” if you are not quick in bringing it out"

Lovely post @Austinelewex ! I really like bread with jam, peanut butter, fried eggs or stew. In Abuja, “Mai Shayi” have an interesting way to toasting bread with fried eggs and serving it as a sandwich which is quite tasty. Also there do the same with Indomie.

I like your tradition to present bread. We have something similar in our traditions, but we don’t present bread always, only during some outstanding events, such as wedding for example, or Easter.

What kind of flour is used to make bread in your country?

In my country, we have different flour. We have cassava flour which is the most recent type of flour. We have wheat flour and many others.

@Austinelewex Does cassava bread looks like wheat bread? Is it similar by taste?

Actually you can’t differentiate between both @OlgaKlimchik because I am not an expert in baking. But I guess there is a whole lot difference. Since wheat becomes so expensive, cassava flour and other substitutes have come to play an important role in other to keep bread on some tables. However, I guess it is actually specified it is cassava flour, whole grain or wheat flour used. Also, saccharin and bromate free is always specified.

@Austinelewex I meant are there great difference in taste and colour between cassava bread and wheat bread. For example our rye bread is a bit sour, denser than wheat bread and brown by colour.

Maybe you have some photos.

There is definitely a great difference. @OlgaKlimchik I guess I haven’t had cassava flour bread before. But both are white in color. Taste comes from how it is being prepared, the ingredients used like chocolate, milk bread etc. :slightly_smiling_face:

Bread is not native to Indonesians either @Austinelewex but many of us do enjoy it. Like what you have did, we introduced some Indonesian elements to it, like eating it with beef floss or abon (very famous beef floss in our country) or even smear rendang spices on top LOL (that is my own version at home which I love).
