I have been to many places around Dehradun but am gonna suggest you the best camping sites in dehradun . Those sites will be full of thrill , fun , scenery and natural beauty. Here we go .
1. George Everest peak : This is an abandoned house of Sir George Everest who was a British surveyor and geographer who served as surveyor general of India . This house is situated at 7,000 feet so you can see the panoramic view all round of the Himalayas and doon valley . this building was built long ago now used as a tourist spot . this is the base of the George Everest peak . from the base there is of 1 km hike up to the top . the way is too narrow and a steep climb , full of rocks and gravel . you can take a cab from the airport to this place . 2 hours ride from the airport to this beautiful place.
though there are many locations to pitch your tent outside in the lawn but in rainy season its good if you go inside and keep yourself warm with the bonfire .
recently the house has been seized , doors are locked with chains , so no way of getting in . but we made it inn by breaking the locks , but leave the place soon at morning so you can’t get caught by the forest guard.
At night it can be so cold up there so don’t forget to carry warm clothes and sleeping bag along . there will be huge wind that will disturb you whole night .
all the picture till now are at the base but if you do a hike of 1 km you will reach the top and you will love it , at night whole city lit up and looks awesome .
At the top the headwind will be so harsh , pitch the tent properly like the opening should be in the opposite direction of the wind direction or it can just swipe you out like a air ball. At night you will see the extreme beauty of this place , cold air , misty taste of moonshine just awesome .
2. Lambi Dehar Mines(Haunted Place ) : Lambi Dehar mines is in en route to George Everest . this place has many mysteries like thousands of people died here long ago , there grave is buried inside that collapsed mine and it is said that there soul is still there in that collapsed mine so no one go there usually . so we went there to know what is it actually there whether the sayings are true . we went there at night pitched our tent stayed overnight but no sign of ghost or anything .
You can drive your vehicle to this place , there’s an open field out to pitch tent but it’s all surrounded by forest so we didn’t felt it safe so we head inside the building .
this place is among the top 10 haunted places in India . but it don’t look haunted anymore .
lot of tourist come here to see the remaining of the mine .

There’s nothing haunted at this site , moreover this place is beautiful , full of thrills and exciting scenery . whenever around dehradun must go these places , you will experience something new here .
Real fun is to explore the things which are untold or never done .
