The reason why we don’t get paid to make contributions on Google Maps is related to fighting fake reviews and other types of spam. Without any payment, there are still thousands or millions of fake contributions. Imagine what would happen if Google started paying for each review. Don’t you think the spam problem would grow?
Google has a rewards progam for those willing to share recipts and give answers to surveys. Please see

Further, you keep asking readers to follow you on Maps. You might not be aware that the following feature is ending this month. So it makes little sense to have people start following you. See The Follow feature on Maps is going away
Hi everyone, now that I have achieved 35M views I wonder what Google will send me as they have ignored me since I hit the 500K mark and only got a pair of socks.
You could consider the free and constantly updated Maps app a great reward

Thank you for the reply but 35 million views is not nothing.
Google makes money out of this not us + the time that we take to get the best shots for GMaps and the publish them and add text/context.
Enough now, will delete all of my contributions then will put my time somewhere else.
After 9 years on contributing to Google Maps, been on the top 10% of global reviewers on some categories, over 35 million views, I just erased all my contributions and photos from the platform.
You are free to do what you think is best.
