First of all, the pounded yam taste is starchy. It doesn’t really have a taste too different like a normal yam. It is used to thicken the soup. The Ede is strechy like a gum. It doesn’t need to sour before it is used. Once it is mature for harvesting, it is boiled and then peel off and then pounded for the soup
Secondly, the palm oil is gotten from palm kernel which is palm tree. It is also very medicinal and it is used to cook all the soups here in eastern nigeria and even in Nigeria as a whole

The meal is not seasonal but the leaf sometimes run out of season and then become very expensive to buy. It is a very unique leaf down here. Most of our meals down here are seasonal @IrrPavlova . Thanks for your kind words. Hope to see you soon in Nigeria.
