I’m super thrilled to share that my Google Maps photos have just crossed 60 million views!

It’s been an incredible journey contributing to the Maps community helping people discover new places, plan better trips, and experience local gems through my photos. Every view feels like a tiny moment where my contribution made someone’s day easier or inspired their next stop.

Over time, I’ve learned that it’s not just about the numbers it’s about impact. Whether it’s a hidden café, a scenic trail, or a local business trying to grow, every picture tells a story that helps others.

I’m super excited to hear about and my heartiest congratulations to you on your 60 million+ views on your media contributions. I totally agree with you that it’s not just about the numbers, it’s about impact and therefore as you say, every view feels like a tiny moment where one’s contribution made someone’s day easier or inspired their next stop. In this regard there can be little doubt that you have helped and inspired many.

Afsal, you have referred to your achievement as if it was photo related views and you will see that I above specifically referred to this as media related views. The reason for this as we have come to believe that while the views shown on Maps is labelled “photos”, this in fact is the views of all of our media (e.g. photos and video) and given that you have contributed almost 1,000 videos (well done you), there can be little doubt that a proportion of your 60 million+ views are video views.

Now having explained this it doesn’t in anyway belittle your impressive views achievement but I just wanted to explain this to you. I should also mention that I believe you would do well to update your data on the Leaderboard System as you could gain an even deeper insight into your contributions mix and the impact that they are obviously having on your community. This brings me to your final question…

You may receive some congratulatory emails from Google recognising your impressive media contributions but there are no explicit perks associated with this. However, additional to Google’s congratulatory emails, you might like to take up my earlier suggestion of updating and maintaining your data on the Leaderboard System as this might give you broader recognition for your contributions including both your photo and video contributions. You will see in Progress Update: Cracking the Top 10 in Video Views!, Hello Top 100 Family! I’m Sophat from Cambodia and August 2025…approaching 100k and Level 10 that others like @marcorp, @SophatCHY and @MoscowMani are doing just this.
