5 tips to become a top Local Guide

@UCME I’m so glad you enjoyed my post. As for the revision of modifications, sometimes they can take a while, but don’t get discouraged and keep contributing.
I also recommend you write posts about your favorite topics on Connect. Whether it’s food, photography, travel, or anything else that inspires you and that you think might be useful to the community. That way your circle of friends in the forum will grow.
Greetings from Argentina and keep up the good work!

@leon14 Good point!! Sure, making quality contributions on Google Maps is essential to be a good local guide, but there are many other things you can do to stand out.

I think the best you can do is to contribute in a genuine and selfless way. And above all, never give up.
Thanks for reading my post and for leaving me your comment.

Hello @CaroGuiniazu ,

Very nice what you write that this is not a competition, and there are no winners and losers.
Be amazed that you spend only 40 minutes at most on Google Local Guide and working it out online.

I find your 5 tips a very valuable asset to keep in mind. At the moment I am working on a few using Google Maps, which is already very intense, to get it tip-top.
Writing a story, yes, that’s another story ;-)… but you are probably right as an expert in connecting local guides.

Kind regards,
Marc

It was fun for a while but quickly grew old. Providing a service like this for businesses and people searching for goods and services has value. Unfortunately local guides do not. In the past I think I was offered a movie ticket or some other digital service worth very little. What incentive is there to continuing “guiding”? Maybe I’m missing something. I can be altruistic as the next person but helping a company worth nearly 3/4’s of a TRILLION dollars be even more profitable with nothing in return is ridiculous.

@blazinrep Thank you very much for reading my post and for leaving your comment.
I understand your point of view but I invite you to look at the matter from another perspective: what would happen if Google charged you for every search you do on the web, for each consultation you make on Google Maps, for each photo you store in the cloud, for each video you watch on YouTube (and the list could go on for hours).
In my case, I see my contributions as a minimal payback for all that Google provides me with every day.
The program becomes meaningful the minute you make your first friend within the community. I have made hundreds of friends around the world and that is worth way more than money can pay.
However, if you know of another platform that pays you for your opinions, go for it! However, in my opinion if the comments are paid they lose credibility, don’t you think?
Anyway, I am glad that you have read my post and that we have been able to discuss our ideas in a friendly way.
I send you my best regards from Argentina.
