Antonella is the president of a non-profit organization, Progetto Re-cycle, which has helped a small commune in Central Italy to map the trails in the surrounding mountains through the Base Map Partner Program, helping others discover sustainable ways to explore the area.

What is your favorite place, experience, photo or video you contributed to Google Maps this year?
I visited Vajont and it is a place full of history and memories in Veneto. Despite its unique history, I found it an amazing learning experience to document, and an example of a community's resilience as it has been heavily reconstructed since 1963.

What advice do you have for other Local Guides?
Don't add photos just for points; add content that will be meaningful for you, and can help other people better understand the area.

What do you like most about the Local Guides community?
I thoroughly enjoy getting to know Local Guides from all over the world. Before the pandemic my husband and I would attend meet-ups in Norcia and Castelluccio di Norcia for the flowering of Pian Grande. We would also organize meet-ups in Veneto to visit vineyards and enjoy the local wine. I also enjoy the ability to use Connect and share my thoughts on the dangers of mass tourism and how we can travel more sustainably.

What makes a place or experience worth rating/reviewing?
It is worth reviewing natural areas and historical places to learn more about the cultural context.

What is your favorite feature of Google Maps?
I appreciate getting the best directions and routes for new destinations, and being able to plan my travel in advance. If I can find natural trails to hike, it is even better!
