Things to do in San Francisco in 2017

Local Guides,

If you have not already subscribed to Local Guides YouTube channel, it's a definite must do now! The channel is a fantastic resource to watch and get great travel and sightseeing ideas from around the world. Plus lots of food porn a long the way too!

Whether you come to San Francisco for a Google conference, vacation or for a Local Guides Summit, definitely check out the 4-Part Local Guides Investigate San Francisco video series beforehand. I watched the series again last night to get inspiration and share ideas for the upcoming #LGSummit17 in October to many of the #LGSummit17 attendees who have never visited The City. The Local Guides that participated in the video series were all #LGSummit16 attendees, including me, @KarenVChin,

Episode 1: San Francisco's Beaches & Nature

Both Nicaragua Local Guide @PabloSanchez and Kenya Local Guide @KoffiK live in subtropical countries. They were not used to HOW cold the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco's Twin Peaks can really be!

Episode 2: San Francisco's Craft Coffee

If you love coffee, be sure to watch and save this video! Tokyo Local Guide @AYAKA and Los Angeles Local Guide  @JR_Curley drink some of the best coffee in San Francisco.

Episode 3: San Francisco's City Sights

Famous things to see and do, many of them are free! Philippines Local Guide @AvelManansala and Singapore Local Guide Alisa Chua now have can definitely give you pointers about the sights and the use of the selfie stick he had with Singapore Local Guide Alisa Chua.

Episode 4: San Francisco's Bay Area Cuisine

Mexico Local Guide Alejandro Villa Renteria and I spent 8+ hours around SF filming. I still have vivid dreams about the croissants and delicious smells of Ariscault Bakery! And the uni!

My Two Personal Recommendations from that Sunday in September.

Ariscault Bakery was voted best bakery in America last year. And the lines to Ariscault was intense. Completely worth an Uber/taxi ride to this place in the middle of SF. Get there as soon as this place opens to stand in line. The combination of sweet and savory, Ham & Cheese and Chocolate Croissants, are what I still dream about. Better than the croissants I had in France. Ariscault does not skimp on quality. Flaky croissants that literally crunch! Uses Valrhona chocolate. LOTS of butter. And Mr. Ariscault and his mother are very nice people.

State Bird Provisions is a 1-star Michelin East Meets West dim sum tapas restaurant. It was Alejandro's first time ever to eat an oyster (raw or cooked) and uni (sea urchin). He was very good. One take! His facial expression was priceless. If you have money and time, please make a reservation for this restaurant. Out in the Fillmore District, it's completely worth it! I still dream about the uni here!

Cheers,

Karen

Re: Things to do in San Francisco in 2017

Thanks @KoffiK for your kind words.  I'm sad 😭 that I won't see you again in San Francisco this year. Be proud that you are a "francisco guy." I loved watching your video with @PabloSanchez again and your experiences of HOW cold San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean is with respect to your two countries. You guys were so cute on the top of Twin Peaks shriveling. You made me smile and laugh!

I can honestly say I have family members who live near where you shot your footage and they will admit, like me, it's dang cold in the area especially when it turns dark with both rolling fog and that chilly wind!

Until next year, hope to see you again!

Cheers,

Karen

It's a lot of fun to look back at these @KarenVChin!

For any/all LG17 attendees, if this will be your first time in San Francisco, you'll probably find these videos helpful!

I know @JR_Curley! Also all these places shown here in the San Francisco Investigate series is timeless, seasonless. You can do any of these anytime of the year.
