Getting there will be tricky if you don't take a taxi. When I went I used public transportation.I got off at subway station Cuizhu (Exit B2) on Line 3 and took bus 211 to WuTong Village. Once you get into the village you can walk straight up the street until you see the entrance to WuTong Mountain. You'll have an option for DaWuTong or XiaWuTong. Choose DaWuTong.
Make sure you were clothes for the weather, comfortable choose, bring food and water. There are vendors along the trails but you may not want what they have.

I lived in Shenzhen for 2 years. The weather is tropical and warm majority of the year. There are various local cuisines to try. Most of my favorite dishes came from Hakka and Henan restaurants. You'll find that people don't differ from the people in your own country, but the cultures can be similar or different. My favorite places to go were Shekou, the parks, Hong Kong, y las playas. I love beaches, so I stuck to places near water. The party scene is decent, but if you go with the right people you'll have a great time. If you're going to Shenzhen, make sure this city will be something that fits your level of adventure. I hope this answers your question.
