Naghsh e Jahan Square

Naghsh e Jahan Square  is a large rectangular square in the city of Isfahan in Iran, enclosed by Safavid buildings. Although the role Naghsh e Jahan has a more ancient background than the Safavid era, but Naghsh e Jahan Square has been shaped in modern form during the reign of Shah Abbas Safavid.

In the past, this square was the place for various events and polo games, and today it is a public and local place for national and religious ceremonies.the detailed description of Naghsh e Jahan Square is the European world battalion, such as Knight Shardin (French), Tavernier, Piter and Dovahala, Sanson, Angelbart, and others who had visited Safavid times in the capital of Iran at that time.

Naghsh e Jahan Square, a rectangular field measuring 560 meters in length and 160 meters in width (440 steps and 160 in width) in the center of Isfahan.

Around the square there are two hundred chambers of two floors. In addition, the four buildings of the Ali Ghapou Palace, Shah Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Qasiryah Gate were built in the middle of the four sides of this rectangle.

The Naghsh e Jahan Square was recorded on January 8, 1934, No. 102 in the national monuments list of Iran, and in May 1979, number 115 was one of the first Iranian works that was registered as World Heritage of UNESCO.
