Let’s begin with a starter: When visiting Kraków/ Cracovia, you will see a lot of blue trollies.
In the trolly you will find ONLY one product, with up to 5 different tastes. This is the Cracovian Obwarzanek. I‘m not sure how many of this special bread is eaten every day by the inhabitants and tourists, but for sure some.... It is a certified tradition from the middle age:
Most popular is still the one with poppy, but not so good, when you smile 😁 right after.... I think you know what I mean.
In Poland is one important thing. You eat soups 🍜 and the rest of the dish is in fact only to hold the soup in your stomach.
Very popular is tomato 🍅 soup (pomidorowa) , flour soup (Zurek), beetroot soup (Barszcz), bean soup (Fasolkowa) and mushroom salad oup (pierczakowa)
For the main dish you have a wide selection of potatoes 🥔 and 🥩 dishes. Very popular are as well Pierogie and the interesting Bigos. I love Bigos, the famous cabbage dish of Poland with bacon 🥓 and pepper.
The Polish dishes are quite full of fatty and maybe exactly this is the reason why it is such good.
But their are plenty of possibilities to loos the good fatty taste while eating an ice cream or some Chocolate from the traditional Polish companies Wedel or Wawel.
Don’t be afraid, their are as well delicious cakes with a lot of cream available.
And what Polish people really like beside eating is drinking (but this maybe comes in an other post). To be prepared for this use surprise! a soup!
But taste the delicious sausages of this country. I cannot believe that sausage has been invited somewhere else than in Poland. Due to Tourists, they have now as well Krakauer in Kraków, but again a different story.
But before sleeping I cannot miss pickles:
The taste is interesting but in combinations of drinks outstanding.
So, I hope we will discover a lot of this food and much more other Polish specialities together in September in Kraków!

Great post, but where is a ZAPIEKANKA???
(plural: zapiekanki)
The most famous Krakow's and Polish street food!
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=zapiekanki+krak%C3%B3w
The best place with zapiekanki is Okrąglak in the old Jewish District of Krakow's Old Town - Kazimierz, on Plac Nowy (Nowy Square).
In a middle of the night when you change one pub to another - warm, crispy zapiekanka is soooo delicious 😄
Crispy, warm white bread (very similiar to baguette), champignon mushrooms stewed/roasted with onions, warm, leaking cheese on them and ketchup and/or mustard with small, cutted spring onions... Mhhhh yummy!
And the best zapiekanki are from Endzior
Regards,
Jacek
