@Gio51x, that’s why I love Rome. The city has left their antiquities alone and build around them. I realize it can be a real pain when trying to build a subway around the city and keep finding ancient ruins and having to stop. But the ability to see and walk around these ancient abandon ruins is amazing.
Thanks for tagging me.
Cheers,
Karen

dear friend @KarenVChin
thanks for the message, I live in Turin, but I am passionate about architecture and history, and much more; many years ago I worked in the construction of railway works including metropolitan areas, in Milan, I remember under the city during the excavations have been found ancient walls, to be able to block the work, even Turin the construction of the subway have found Roman walls (Turin was born on a Roman camp a quadrilateral in Latin called: castrum / decumanus), today with modern technologies these "problems" are outdated, they pass the lines of the metropolitan even lower or between the Roman walls and the foundations of the houses, then they fill everything of special cement to prevent collapses.
About Rome, in the context of my route without route with Street View started in 2008, for 10 years every day I travel thousands of miles to discover the world with my PC and mouse, and recently I'm in Connect I started to publish thematic thread which also concern history and archeology, I opened a thread dedicated to Rome that collects the places that attract me and that I think may be of general interest, for now in addition to the thematic threads I have three specials on 3 major Italian cities: Rome, Venice and Turin.
will tag you in my future Roman tours
thank you,
cheers
GIO'.
