Memorials, monuments, cairns - Places of Interest

With this theme inspired me @MarieP. In the world there are plenty of places where historic events took place. These events were recorded position memorials. These events are sometimes tragic, sad, mysterious, but historically significant. Let's take a look together and share these interesting places.

General Gablenz Memorial - Monument to the Battle of Trutnov
The Battle of Trutnov was the battle of the Austro-Prussian War. It took place June 27, 1866, and ended in a tactical victory for the Austrian. It was the only battle of the Austro-Prussian War, which ended in victory for Austria.
The monument is located on Gallows Hill. From this place is a wonderful view of the town of Trutnov.

Memorial to victims of a ruptured dam.

The dam embankment dam was built in 1915 on the White Desna to control the flow and prevent flooding that often plagued valley settlements. Just one year after commissioning of the dam, however, disaster struck. In the afternoon, September 18, 1916, water began to leak the dam, which eventually broke and caused a catastrophic flood wave. Under the onslaught of water killed 62 people and 100 houses in Desna were severely damaged or completely destroyed.
