সোনালু ফুলের ঝলমলে রূপ দেখে মনে হয় কোন রুপসী কন্যা এইমাত্র হলুদের পিঁড়িতে বসলো। পুরো গাছ থেকে হলুদ যেন বয়ে বয়ে পড়ছে। গ্রীষ্মের তাপদাহে মানুষ যখন ওষ্ঠগত সে সময় বর্ণিল ফুলের সমারোহ চার পাশের রুক্ষতাকে ম্লান করে দেয়। লাল কৃষ্ণচূড়ার ফাঁকে উঁকি দেয়া বেগুনি, জারুল ফুল ছাড়াও আপন মহিমায় ঝলমল করে সোনাঝরা সোনালু ফুল। শীত বসন্তে সোনালু গভীর ভাবে ঘুমিয়ে থাকে। বৈশাখের শুরুতে সে ঘুম ভেঙ্গে আড়মোড়া দেয়। পাঁচ পল্লবের দীর্ঘ মঞ্জুরির এ ফুলগুলো ফুটতে থাকে মাঝ গ্রীষ্মে। দেখতে দেখতে ফুলে ছেয়ে যায় পুরো গাছ। জাগতে থাকে নতুন পাতা।
সোনালুর প্রধান আকর্ষণ হলো লম্বা ঝুলন্ত পুষ্পমঞ্জুরি। কিশোরীর কানের দুলের মতো বৈশাখী হাওয়ায় দুলতে থাকে ফুলের থোকাগুলো। আবার ফুলের ফাঁকে দেখা যায় কচি সবুজ পাতা

Not five petals, as I sed, but I love it, and I'm very proud of it
