This has just popped up to me in Google Maps (under the left side navigation on my desktop).
"Over 2,000 years ago, the Nabataeans created Petra—the city of stone. Journey with us behind the iconic facade from the movies, and discover one of the great wonders of the world, forgotten by time itself."
It's clearly Street View based but with hot spots, popup info windows and such. Interesting, to say the least. It would be super cool if we could get some info about this feature (and if the tool to create it will ever be available for the puny masses like us).

@Csaba Great post! Thanks for sharing. I first read about this place in a book by Erich von Däniken. This place fascinates me.

Hi @ErmesT,
I have a spherical camera and know how to create a virtual tour - but this is something "next step" from the basic VT.
