Re: Collecting mushrooms - Photos

@LucioV E @ermel, signori sono crudeli, parlando di deliziosa pasta con funghi! Non sto pensando di una cena di pasta di questa sera!

More seriously, because of this conversation I have researched how to hunt for mushrooms here in New York State and New York City. I live in New York City so I am not so interested in New York State (which would involve a lot of travelling).

But Here in Manhattan we have a Mycological Society which in the warmer weather (June -October) offers walks, 5-6 hours, to hunt for mushrooms--in our Central park apparently! I have to put this on my list for this coming summer and autumn and make a reminder (Google Calendar!) to report here after that.

One note-they mention that some mushrooms can be toxic. I am not sure if that danger is only in eating, but not in touching.

@ErmesT Great! Wonderful pictures. Also, we dry some mushrooms. In the winter we put into the soup.

@LucioV Toadstools are wonderful.

Only once I managed to find a mushroom (Sparassis crispa) Czech Kotrč kadeřavý. It makes excellent soup.

Rarest mushroom that I took a picture we found in 2012. It is (clathrus archeri) Czech Květnatec Archerův. The mushroom is inedible and very rare.

Re: Collecting mushrooms - Photos

@MarieP As told by @ErmesT collect mushrooms only those we know. Knowledge my parents handed. I went with them often to the forest.

This is how it looks when it is a good season.
