How to take photos for sneaker seekers

Are you obsessed with finding the perfect pair of sneakers and have a stash piled in your closet? Sports stores, boutique sneaker shops, and retail department stores are all places where sneaker seekers can go to discover great finds. But sometimes it can be a challenge to find a shop that carries the perfect style and size.

The photos Local Guides like you share on Google Maps can help other sneaker seekers find their next pair of colorful kicks. Here are a few tips for taking great photos next time you’re at a sneaker store.

1. Document the exterior and the craze

At a popular boutique that attracts a large crowd? Capture the exterior as well as a shot with the line out the door. It’s helpful for others looking for specialty sneakers to know what the exterior of the store looks like and if the store has a big following.

2. Capture the color

A little color can go a long way to making a photo more interesting. Look for bright colors and logos in the sneaker shop. Snap some shots of the vibrant shoes, signs, and displays to really make your photos pop.

3. Focus on the details

The sky’s the limit these days when it comes to sneaker fashion and there’s lots to capture when looking at sneaker design! What makes sneaker collectors go hunting for a new pair can be a shoe’s brand, design, and rarity. With your camera, try to focus in on the details of the sneakers to get some stylish up-close shots.

4. Try different angles

A store that has a wall full of colorful sneakers gives you the opportunity to take a wide view photo of the variety available. Try shooting from different angles to capture the lines of the displays and shelves filled with footwear.

5. Get permission

As always, make sure that you respect people’s privacy and have the business owner’s permission when you take photos in a store. If you aren’t sure about taking photos in a retail shop, take some time to review our community policy.
