How to make something ugly, nice and presentable.

Taking a photo is not just setting camera to auto or HDR and snap a picture.

It's an art.

Overexposing is the same and destroying the image, try to under expose and then edit the picture to a perfect exposure of the part you want to show.

If you overexpose, you can't fix it with an edit.

Slightly underexpose will allow you to do just that.

Here is an example where the dynamic range of camera is not enough.

https://goo.gl/maps/WdLdhf27Xao

Balanced in edit to show every detail in room, but nothing outside.

As you don't care if lawn is cut, but you want to show every single pixel inside this room.

Raise exposure up to the limit where every part of room is as visible as possible, and every pixel outside room is not.

This makes the viewer look at the part you want to show.

If you have a bad range to show viewer, this picture will not be a hit.

Even an ugly picture like this will be a hit generator.

This makes a picture interesting for a viewer.

Or if it's a picture of a toilet for some strange reason(my No2 hit)?

This are my 2 biggest hit generators.

Go figure?

With shadowWith shadowHey, who stole the shadow?Hey, who stole the shadow?

Here is another example. on first picture, your eyes will wander off and look at the shadow.

Second picture will not allow this to happen, as shadow is.... Stolen by the shadow monster.

Camera has the same settings in both pictures, only difference is the aim of the flash and the power of it.

First picture it's aimed at screwdriver, which screw the picture up totally.

Second picture, flash is aimed at roof and boosted quite a bit, you can't see anything but the screwdriver.
