Drive Space Usage Studies Part 2 - Direct Capture Photos in Android Maps

A. Test Setup:

1.  Settings for Web version of Google Photos

- Upload Quality:  Original Quality

2.  Settings for Android Phone

- Auto Backup: Disabled

3.  Capture of Photo

- In Android Maps, Open Existing POI, Choose Add Photo, Choose Camera, Choose System Camera

- Take the photo, my photo size is about 6MB

4.  Publishing to Maps

- Follow the on screen instruction to publish

 

B.  Verification

1.  Image is visible by public

2.  Take Drive Space usage 24-hours after publishing

 

C. Result:

1.  Did photo use Drive Space Quota:  NO  

2.  Did photo show up in Google Photos:  No

3.  Did photo show up in Google Drive: Yes

4.  Did photo show up in AlbumArchive: Yes

5.  Download Photo from AlbumArchive:  Size is indeed  about 6MB
