Thanks for celebrating restaurant photo month

Former Google Contributor

We know Local Guides love sharing restaurant photos on Google Maps. That’s why we dedicated July to celebrating local food culture through photography.

What did you think of this celebration, and what would you like to see more of? We’d love it if you’d tell us in the comments. We’re planning to spotlight more food photography and tips on Connect, so be sure to keep sharing your photos with #LocalGuides.

In case you missed any part of the month’s festivities, here’s a quick recap:

To start, our own @AnnaDickson shared 5 easy ways to take great food photos, along with some wisdom about what it takes to make your pictures stand out. (Hint: not a fancy camera!)

Then, we got valuable lessons and tips from some of our favorite star food photographers. Corey Marshall showed us how to take the best breakfast photos and met up with Local Guides at Sqirl in L.A.

During week three, Sharon Heinrich showed how to photograph delicious desserts and took us to Paris for a lesson in pastry-making at Colorova.

We saw so many beautiful breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes (and of course dessert!) with #LocalGuides. It was fantastic to spotlight them here on Connect.

Thank you for joining the celebration!

Gracias totales ...

You're welcome @LuisRG.  Local Guides who participated by learning how to improve our food photography skills and were forced to eat out more (and gain some weight  = )) to practice, thanks for sharing your photos here on Connect and your social media channels.  It was a delicious month to learn more about each other foods and, of course, see all the yummy photos!

Cheers,

Karen

I was lucky to be a part of the event in New Delhi @ ITC Maurya, Dum Pukht restaurant, and learned a lot of food-photography tips from Shivesh of "bakewithshivesh.com" & Shumaila Chauhan of "novicehousewife.com"

An absolute taste sensation last month has been. We dined, ate and conquered like a local. One of the best months of fun, food culture has really rocketed into Local Guides. What more? As the pinnacle of summer (well, for the Northern Hemisphere) starts and the beautiful season of spring/autumn starts to emerge for both halves of the world, something outdoorsy would be lovely. And definitely more integration with rising/established social media stars.

When are you doing something similar in New York in 2018

This event took place just before I joined Connect and became a local guide.
