This month, we’ve invited you to join us in adding wheelchair-accessibility information on Google Maps. A fun way to do that is to hold a meet-up with fellow Local Guides.

It’s been invigorating reading how excited — and passionate — you all are about helping others!

So far, 70 Local Guides from around the world have organized meet-ups focused on wheelchair accessibility — and that’s just in the past two weeks.

Coming up, over 120 meet-ups are on the calendar in places places like Gujarat, India, Tomsk, Russia, Vancouver, Canada, and Batticloa, Sri Lanka. Check out g.co/localguides/meetup to see if a meet-up is being hosted near you. If not, why not host one yourself?

When you’re out and about at one of these meet-ups or contributing wheelchair-accessibility information to Google Maps, don’t forget to share your discoveries on social using #LocalGuides and #a11y.

The Local Guides team is hosting meet-ups in Copenhagen, Surabaya, Buenos Aires, Santiago, London, New York, and Tokyo. We’ll be posting highlights and livestreams on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and YouTube, so be sure to follow along.

As for me, I’ll be co-hosting tomorrow’s meet-up in Buenos Aires. I can’t wait to share my experience meeting Local Guides and learning about accessibility in the city!
