Level 4+ Local Guides with Android devices now have access to the beta version of our new missions feature, which shows you where and how to make the biggest impact. You’ll see two new cards on the Contribute tab:

• Uncover missing info: Find places nearby that need information most, like hours, website, or photos — and the best ways to snag more points.
• Check the facts: Verify information that other people suggested about places nearby to make sure we always show the right stuff. 

Venture outside or research online to complete your “missions.” Either way, you’ll know where your help is needed most. And yes, you earn points just as you would normally. We can't wait to hear what you think. Happy exploring!

Amazing feature!

I dislike texting lots of information but I love taking photos of new places.
On my walk, with new feature, I´m able to complet photos of unregistered places.

Love it! Two bits of feedback:

* Currently it appears there is no incentive to review the changes of others. It would be nice if that gave you points as well. Verifying that information is correct is just as time consuming as finding it in the first place.

* When entering hours in the missing information UI, it considers "Open 24 Hours" to be the same thing as no information available. For example there were missing hours on a hospital and I tried to enter "Open 24 Hours" but it just stays blank and doesn't let me submit those changes.

Really good feature, wasn't aware that it is a new feature. I thought this feature got unlocked as I went up the ladder. Started using it almost immediately since it got launched. Spent my free time on this.

Verifying phone number is bit tricky. We need to be bit tactful to ask the right question. We need to just ask as a customer. If we tell we are verifying for Google map, a few will ask lot of questions. On one occasion, I had to spend about 15minutes to explain about Google Local Guide Programme. 

Please remember, to be on safer side,never give your personal information other than your name and phone number. Also never tell you are.calling from Google or representing Google,we are not!! 

Also,I found that in Bangalore some real estate websites were changing phone numbers of new projects being developed by other companies. So, in such cases one needs to be careful.

Awesome, cant wait to start using it. I would just hope reviewers would be faster in my country... (Costa Rica) important corrections to main roads or simple places that need to be added take so much time to be approved or at least reviewed, some reports would have even months and are still pending for review..

One can use the feature "Check the facts" for any place anywhere in the world. I reviewed few edits in UK, Canada, etc. I skipped most phone numbers, just reviewed websites, working hours, address.

Excellent new features. Both tabs 'Uncover missing info' and 'check the facts'  have fabulous improved easy actions that will make it simple for new contributions.

 Thank you this makes focusing on required content much easier. I have found an issue with duplicate pictures again when using the "Uncover missing info:" functionality. This did occur when the mobile signal wasn't great at a shopping centre though. Anyway I have reported the bug as discussed in the link above. However here is a picture of the failure:

I just love the new update of "uncover missing info" and "check the facts".It's a much needed tool for the local guides to update places faster!!

It's really useful and a fantastic feature and I like it.

PS (before the beta feature): The only thing I have a problem is that few places which I have suggested a change is still in a review process (over 2 months) and not looked upon while users using the map see the old info and follow the old info instead of an updated info which has to be done faster so to benefit the users.

I'm hesitant to want to contribute anything else to this cause from the lack of human that appears to go into the review of new places added.  

Why keep spending time with someone who won't spend any back. 

Maybe this will change.

Whoaah!! Like the feature very well. But when we Get more Places, the map is still in satellite mode and not getting cached and clear. Is it because it's still on beta?

Hi, I've updated to the latest version now, restarted the App and the phone, but I still don't see the new cards. When you say 'still rolling out' is this a regional thing which may delay me seeing this new feature dependant on where I am? I'm in UK, Level 5.

Tried it yesterday and the 'missing info' part works, the 'check the facts' doesn't react. Maybe there is nothing to check in my neighbourhood other than the mess I'm creating ;-).

But I do have a slight complaint about the incentives for running around taking pictures of all shops in my city. So far I got 100 Gb of free storage for a year when I reached level 4. This used to be 1 TB till about one month before I became level 4 (bummer). I think Google should be a little bit more generous towards contributors.

This is great! It would be nice to be able to flag "not applicable" for some suggestions. For example, a garden near me states that phone number is missing info, but this doesn't apply; there is no phone number.

I love how Google guides gets continually better, Even though I am only at level 3 I feel like I'm making a contribution.

I hope one day to meet up with some other local guides and share ideas on how we can

It's a nice feature. But unfortunately doesn't work for me the check data part. When I submit it, always says, there were some server error and can't send it. On LTE and wifi the same. OnePlus 3, Hungarian Telenor sim.

i'm using VPN to access maps and work on it ! it's so difficult for me to activate VPN everytime and also i can't even turn on my location history !

I just try the latest function of new contributions tab "Uncover missing info". This design is very userful to save my time to find the uncover info. As long as the info check and tab, the less uncover info need to tab. I don't have the time to find that nearby me. Furthermore, it likes the recent popular game pokomo go. right?

I'm glad you rolled this feature out to level 3. I think this feature is especially helpful at lower levels, because it helps show you what is needed. Maybe consider for level 2 and up, people can provide missing information. I agree that verification might be best at level 3 and up.
