Wrong photos added BY GOOGLE

Hi fellows,

This is the problem that I mentioned during two summits (LG Summit in SF and TC Summit in Dublin).

Google finds in Internet and add inappropriate images to objects. A very "good" example (I just edited it a little):

This photo has been added by Google ("from Internet") to the Internatiol Bus Hub in Moscow. Now is deleted.

But is part of the trouble. The main problem is that Google makes such a photos the main ones.

The object has more than 195 photos. But Google found the most unsuitable one from Internet - the name of the monument on the photo coincides, but it's a photo of an other monument, located in other country. And Google made this photo the main one. :^(

This is a one example from thousands.

Why create a problem? Why use a not very smart artificial intelligence, if users have added hundreds of real photos?

Thanks a lot for reaching out with your feedback as we are always working to improve our products.  At the moment to help us keep Maps fresh and updated, the user can report images directly in Google Map, clicking on "report a problem" in the menu at the upper left corner.

Also, I needed to redact your post as it contained an explicit image. I do understand that you wanted to use it as an example, but please keep in mind this is a public forum and posting this kind of content is against the program rules and the community policy.

The issue that you should keep in mind -  Google Maps is a public service and Google published this photo on Maps, not me, not other user. And is takes me a months to push the issue before it was removed.

At the moment Google publish a billions photos "from Internet", is simlpy impossible to report one by one. And I see the same images on the same place in a months after I reported about it. Second issue - try to report via desktop version - Recapcha will stopped all your desire to help after 5-10 images.

P.S. BTW after 1 week the wrong photo is still remains as a main one (example #2). 

P.P.S. What I can say is that you only keep Connect "fresh and spam free", by a strict censorship, but you don't care about the Maps at all. You remove a screenshots, but pornography photos remains on the Maps. You delete links to public profiles of spammer users, but the profiles themselves continue to live successfully on Maps. This is the position of a three-year-old child - "if I do not see the problem, then there is no problem".

We all are working here to make Maps a better place the best we can. As I already said, we valued and thank you for your feedback - and it will be definitively passed on to the team.  

Your post is here for everyone to be read and replied to.  If you notice any other problem, please do report it here. 

I understand your frustration and appreciate your hard work in Google Maps. Your feedback - among the others  we receive daily in this board - will help us to make improvements. But I also need to remind you not to post pornographic/explicit content of any nature on Connect - even as an example of what  you can find in Google Maps. Otherwise it will be removed from your post as per Local Guides program rules and the community policy.

I repeat once again that the system of searching for an object' name on the Internet and attaching photos from those pages to objects on maps is complete stupidity.

On the photo we see Saint Basils Cathedral on the Red Square, Moscow. The photo is attached BY GOOGLE to Oymyakon city located in 5250 kilometers from the object on the photo.

There is not machine learning error. Is just a stupid bot finded "Oymyakon" word on the website and attached the nearest photo to the city.

World War II Memorial    This is some very small object in a schoolyard in Moscow.

All 5 photos are rubbish, attached by Google. No one will ever know what this object really looks like. Google attached a photo of DC War Memorial (SW, Washington, DC USA) from a photostock website:

Thanks for your observation and desire for better map. I am unable to understand that why not Google block such accounts who repeatedly making wrong/spam edits. Google map must have re-introduce Regional Leads like GMM. I think this minimize the spam edit and other issue. LGs at level 7 and above are frustrating here. Team Google must have check their feedback and edits manually rather than Bots. Legitimate edit and important feedback being ignored by bots. I think if this trends remains unchanged Google Map may loose their LGs.

Hope google will take appropriate step at their end.

@SergeySud It is disapointng and a real pitty that it is almost impossible to easy report and remove such obvious mistakes with photos. And this is exactly the same issue for LG level 1 and Level10.
