Forr example R can means Regional type of road...from country to country you can find variety type of roads...main roads...and those that have that yellow, green or blue square, those are main roads or highways, expressways...in Bosnia and Herzegovina we have R-Regional, M-Magistral, E-European, A-Highway (where a means "Autoput" whats on local languages means Highway...so in your country leters can indicate type of road in your local language...but you can always know type of road by colour of square 🙂
And of course, it is up to country what name they can give for main roads and why 🙂 sometimes it is logical sometimes it is not 🙂
But colors are important, but know this also...sometimes what you see on maps does not need to mean that it is in real life 🙂
Here in India it is road number. I don't know anything about in Bangladesh. Google put these information on map based on the data provided by transit authorities.
