'Not applied' error - adding place

I've read a number of these threads, but none of the solutions seem to apply.

I am trying to add a local business at this address - my hairdresser, Hairstudio Carlton [spelled like that] - and it's always coming back 'not applied'. Other edits seem to work quickly on this account, and I've tried using my old personal Google account, where I had 200+ contribution points, but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

If you can post here the exact info you provided including a confirmation map link, the forum can look into this for you.

Thanks - the link is https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/579+Lygon+St,+Princes+Hill+VIC+3054/@-37.782717,144.967526,17z

Name: Hairstudio Carlton

Category: Hairdresser

If you can add the place, I can add the phone number and business hours next time I visit there.

Thanks again 🙂

Re: 'Not applied' error - adding plac

I'm afraid we cannot add it for you; edits need to come from the author's personal knowledge.

If you are not adding data such phone numbers and URLs when you add a feature, this can be the reason why you are not successful.  Such data might be used by Google's reviewers to confirm your edit, for example they might check the website or call the number.  I think I see a hairdresser in Street View, but I cannot be sure and I can't read the business name; as a volunteer trusted reviewer I would not be able to approve this edit with just the information you are presenting.

It is not necessary to provide 100% of the data when adding a feature, but there should be enough for the reviewers to be able to confirm your edit.

Re: 'Not applied' error - adding plac

Hi Gregg,

When I originally submitted the Add Place request, I was at the salon, so I submitted the phone number and opening hours then - it still rejected for some reason.

They don't have a website, per se, but I could provide this URL:

https://www.instagram.com/hairstudiocarlton/

You can see from the URL and icon that it's called Hairstudio Carlton, and the feed is full of hairdressing photos. Is this enough?

If you zoom in on Google Streetview, you can see that the logo on the Instagram and on the storefront are the same, if that helps.

Re: 'Not applied' error - adding plac

If you did submit that information then it would come down to one of two things; the edit not meeting the guidelines or an error.

It is harder to judge the first since we cannot view other's Maps edits, but what I am referring to are things like entering more than just the name into the name field, using an incorrect address, an inappropriate category, etc.  You should ensure that each aspect of your edit meets the guidelines.  Creating a duplicate is also against guidelines so do check for that, but it doesn't appear to be the issue here.

If they do then it's likely just an error.  Edits are reviewed by a combination of algorithms and people, and either can make a mistake.  If you are sure you have entered everything correctly then I encourage you to try again.  You might want to take a screenshot just before you submit it so that if you're unsuccessful a second time you can share that screenshot with us so that we can see if there is an obvious error.

As a note, the URL you suggest cannot be used, you were correct to leave it out the first time.

I'm afraid that I cannot approve this for you, I'm a reviewer for Map Maker edits in Canada.
