Hi @YK1001 i think that if a POI already exists, due to category available when added, in mapmaker or in maps, shouldn't be removed if the category is not selectable anymore.

Should be removed only if source of spam 😉

Sorry to inform...

Taxi Stands are available as category (maybe not in all countries)... and are not part of traffic layer. I had some serious issues by removing single company info as Taxi services have been somewhat deregulated an now there are some 4 or 5 companies who all can use free parking at most frequent spots (Airports, Train stations etc...)

Normally when a category is only available in a limited area it means that it is not one of Google's categories, but rather it was inherited from the data supplier that they used before taking the area over themselves. I of course can't say that's the reason for sure, but I'm fairly confident that would be the case in this situation.

Nonetheless, Google has said Taxi stands are not mappable. Even if they were, they would require proper names. This one appears to have been added by using the name of the neighbourhood/locality within which it resides; which is a description and not appropriate.

It is really surprising for me. This category is available in Iran and we can add taxi stands. In fact this is the only public transport location users can add. Finally I found one thing that is available for Iran but not other locations, despite ever 😄 I think because there is no official resource in this case Google let users to add Taxi Stands in Iran for better commuting and it really helps as I experienced since years ago. Anyway if we can not find suitable category it means that we can not add that place to the map.

As I know There is also no problem to add the real proper name of one station even if it is same as the locality/street. I'm not sure about this mentioned case (because of language) but for example if name of one station be "Example Cross-way Station" on it's sign, we can add name to the map as well. In this case it's not a description.

About mentioned case as I can see in English it has "Taxi Stand" as name which is general name and wrong: https://goo.gl/maps/VBRzS6DVNUN2

In Croatia law says that all Taxis should have licensed driver and not to overcrowd some more interesting areas, a designated number of licenses is issued per city (or neighborhood, town... i.e. https://etaxi.zagreb.hr/ ) and each license is bind to single or just a few Taxi Stand positions usually named after neighborhood or nearby object (i.e.Railway station). Positions are usually placed in areas where parking otherwise is not allowed (not my map but cannot find link to an official one- https://goo.gl/zDRR2H) although licenses are bind to those positions drivers usually operate as SAB - through company or association... (on particular address 18 drivers have their base although they operate through several companies (http://radiotaxizagreb.com/en/, https://cammeo.hr/hr/gradovi/zagreb, http://www.ekotaxi.hr/en/)

So when they are waiting on call, taxis are available on Taxi stand positions, and most positions have a driver or more on stand-by 24/7... Definitively mapable by Guidelines...
