Google map maker transition to local Guides.

How will the shutting down of Google map maker affect the local guides?

If I understand it right way, it shouldn't affect in any way. All edit history will remain. I believe that in the future we will get more options for editing in Google Maps Local Guides, maybe even more than it was in Map Maker. But we will see...
