So how can one distinguish between a boutique and clothing store

A boutique provides products for a special type of clientele. A general clothing store sells to the masses with no specific customer type.

I think that @OnyedikaBenjaminJ would like to know if it's possible to choose a separate category in maps while editing this kind of POIs.

I think that at this time is not possible, so i suggest you to send a feedback inside Google Maps app.
