Hi everyone.
I'm quite a newbie here and in Local Guide world in general, and I want to make sure I'm doing things right. I have noticed there are a lot of missing places on the map of my city such as churches, museum, monuments, major squares, and pubs. My question is: can I add them to the map even though I don't own them? Especially pubs, restaurants, bars, etc; is it okay for me to add such places even though I'm not the owner? I know that owners can eventually claim their place, but I wonder if, until that moment, the places and commercial activities I add are attributed to me. Will people and the owner who eventually claims the place be able to see I added it?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Yes, you can add. The updates will be not immediately available, and will be submitted to an automated control, searching for eventual duplicates or errors.
Some point of interest (POI) we are not allowed to add, but you can always click on Feedback link in your Google Maps menu to suggest an edit.

Thanks, Lucio. Will owners know I added their places once they reclaim them?

No, they won't know, except the one that use Google Map Maker!
Once on map they can claim the business through Google MyBusiness program.
