Hello Local Guides and welcome to another edition of the Worldwide Map Edit Walk. How time flies so easily. Last year July 22, 2017 we ran a map edit walk and promised to ourselves to continue to host yearly map edit walk event in our communities and also have it replicated across other communities for the sole purpose of improving the information of Google Maps in our communities and making it a more valuable tool to rely on daily. The turnout from Local Guides around the world was amazing from the previous event. We had Local guides from 39 different communities from 6 different continents from different part of the world coming together for the purpose of 1 mission which was to help their community and make an impact in the world and beyond. Those moments were indeed a remarkable moments in life. A big thank you to all the local guides who made it a huge success.
This year our theme for this meet up event is titled: Uncover The Missing Information. There has been a lot of improvements on Google Maps recently, new features added to Maps like the Google list and many of us are really excited about this. Have you thought about missing information from the Maps ? Information like accessibility options in places ? Wrong marker locations of businesses in our community ? opening and closing times not correct and missing places not yet listed on the Google Maps. Many of this information are missing and we want to converge as a group together on this day to help Uncover this missing information and make sure they are properly represented on the Maps. In Making an impact in our community and the world, we are joining hands together once again on a global scale to do what we love to do best as Local Guides. I am so happy to be a local guide because I know my contributions helps millions make informed decisions, are you ? Do you also want to help improve the information of Maps in your community ? I encourage you to host a similar meetup in your community to have same event going. If you are new to the community, this helpful Link shows you how to organize a meetup easily:https://maps.google.com/localguides/meetup/how-to and if you also need some advice on how to organize a successful meetup you can ask me on this thread and I will be willing to share some tips with you.
Let's take a flashback to August 02 2017 when I posted the recap of The Worldwide Map Edit Walk to see how it went and should in case you have missed it, make sure you read all the amazing and inspiring stories here:Worldwide Recap- The Worldwide Map Edit Walk
and check out the collection of all the events on Google+ here:The Worldwide Map Edit Walk Collection
To host a similar Meetup and to make it different from the previous ones add a V2 to it. V2 simply means volume 2 as said in the ending of the video of the previous edition of the event we had. An example is this: WW Map Edit Walk Lagos V2.
When sharing on social media let's not forget to share using hash tags #LocalGuides # WWmapeditwalkV2.
This is going to be the Global photo album for this year's Meetup event were we would share our fun & group photos: The Worldwide Map Edit Walk Volume 2 Global Album
After the Meetup, I encourage the meetup host to fill this form and also share the form link with the meetup attendees. Statistical Details For the Worldwide Map Edit Walk V2 Meetup. We want to collate statistics for the event as we did in the past so I encourage you to fill it and share it with your meetup attendees.
If you do have any questions feel free to ask in the reply thread below and I would be more than happy to answer them.
