[Recap] Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Worldwide Foodcrawl Meet-up, 16th Dec 2017.

It was only a few weeks ago from today that the idea of having a worldwide foodcrawl meet-up event was suggested. We were really excited to have another opportunity to get everyone together again as part of Local Guides in Malaysia. And after some initial discussion, it was set to be in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, in Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Masjid India, Saturday night bazaar on 16th Dec 2017, 6.30pm. This is one of the places where lots of people including tourists visit and where one can sample a lot of halal street food.

On the day itself, as we approached the evening, the sky was turning really dark, and it really started to pour heavily. Some of us were already in the vicinity as traffic in the evening usually comes to a standstill. The heavy thunderstorm was really worrisome as our food crawl was planned around open air area where make shift stalls are usually set up. We waited for everyone to arrive and thank goodness the rain had relented towards the early part of the night. All in all, we had 14 members join in our meet-up this day. With a very good representation from many countries, including Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, India.

At just after 8pm, we had started exploring the streets and small lanes around the Masjid India area, where the hive of activity began picking up after the rain. We tried our best balancing walking, exploring the stalls, taking photos, eating, drinking, chatting with each other, with such excitement and happiness. The cool air and light drizzle helped to cool the night down even more. We had spent at least 1 hour walking around and eating snacks from many stalls, before settling down for a hot tea as we chatted into the night.
