[RECAP] Worldwide Map Edit Walk Mumbai

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

July 28, 2018 @ 14:00 (IST)

Video Recap

It was an amazing experience to be the part of The Worldwide Map Edit Walk Volume 2 initiated by @HelloSamsonR which already has expanded across the many countries.

This meet-up was also amazing for me since first time ever I was hosting any meet-up. I was really excited about how many people will actually turn out for the meet.

Prodeep sir, Aditya, Me & ShrutiProdeep sir, Aditya, Me & Shruti

We were four LG who represented the city of Mumbai in this global meetup including me. Many thanks to Mr. Aditya Patil & Mr. Prodeep sir @Prodeep  for coming all the way from Thane & Navi Mumbai (neighboring cities of Mumbai which is also considered very far due to huge Mumbai traffic). Also thanks to Shruti @Shrut19 who reached the meet-up Point on time.

We gathered at sharp 2 PM near Borivali Station in Mumbai and started introducing each other. After introduction, we discussed about Local Guide program and Connect platform. Since our new member Mr. Aditya Patil has not signed himself on connect, he has a lot query regarding this. I tried to sort out his queries during our meetup also.

After this we also discussed on what we are going to do today in this Map Edit Walk Meet-up. As this year’s theme was Uncover The Missing Information, we focused on the same.

  • Check the location of places and correct the location on map.
  • Answer questions
  • Cross-checking the information, by confirming through business owner / or through signboards / or taking the visit card. We also collected numbers of visiting cards.
  • Remove any place if it is permanently closed or duplicate of another place, if a place is spam (or) doesn't exist.
  • Adding new places, if doesn't exist in Map.
  • Adding good photos of the places.
  • Also to make the owners aware about the google map and encouraging them to check the reviews and ratings of their respective businesses.

Thereafter we got divided into two group and started to walk to cover the maximum area. Since we have opted the Borivali station area which is densely populated and there are many small and big shops on both the sides of road. We continued on Swami Vivekanand Road. Me and Aditya were walking on the left side of road. Shruti and Prodeep were walking on the right side of the S.V. Road. We covered approx 800 meters area and then decided to end our meet-up.

Lastly I wish to mention the message of Mr. Aditya Patil who was very new to the program, due to his mobile error he could not sign-in to the CONNECT hence messaged me feedback which is as "THANK YOU NAND KISHORE FOR INVITING AND MAKING ME A PART OF THIS AMAZING CONTRIBUTION EVENT. TOP LOCAL GUIDES LIKE YOU MAKE MEET-UP EXPERIENCE MEMORABLE AND MAKE ME ATTEND THE SAME FOR MORE WISDOM & SOCIALISM... LET'S TOGETHER INVENT A POSSIBILITY TO MAKE NAVIGATION, FOOD AND TRANSIT FOR EVERYONE EASIER THAN EVER... THANK YOU... CHEERS...!!!"

Than you Aditya for such encouraging feedback, it matters a lot to me.
