[RECAP] Nigeria Accessible Walk-BS

Even the rains didn't stop us from embarking on the Accessibility Walk. It's been a rainy week in the Atlantic city of Lagos and the clouds are still heavy. Local Guides defiled the early morning precipitation to converge on Lagos Island, all for the good of the special citizens - differently enabled.

LGs started arriving quite early. We had a brief dialogue on what accessibility entails and the need to have relevant information on the go. The local guides programme and Google Map features were further explained to some new attendees to enable them understand the essence of Meet ups.

Just before we stepped on the streets.Just before we stepped on the streets.
We had three new LGs attend their first meetup and it was an engaging experience as we got to know one another.

From the famous CSS Bookshop we commenced our walk towards the Custom Street. You could see some of the historic buildings that made up the CBD of the former capital of Nigeria.

Sadly, almost all the buildings didn't have an accessible trail except for renovated structures.

Then came the rains, we retreated back to CSS Bookshop where we had other LGs join us. We decided to change our route due to the rains.

After the brief walk, we took shelter inside one of the fast food outlets on Broad Street. We had soft drinks and doughnut while socializing.

With a short closing remark, we dispersed to different parts of Lagos to meet again sooner. 😊

Hi @EmekaUlor,

Thanks for sharing this recap with the rest of us! It looks like you spent some quality time together, and it's great that you didn't give up on your initial plan despite the gloomy weather.

Accessibility walks are very meaningful and provide valuable information to people using Google Maps. So keep up the great contributions!

Short and accurate recap! Had enough fun in the fountain in the square. Sadly didn't find many wheelchair accessibility trails around. We hope however we've been able to trigger business owners and tall buildings to start creating this access for the advantage of all. Thanks @EmekaUlor for hosting us again with the likes of @Olumide1  @Maticoco, @Sagir @sayo @Abdullahi_cap and others @in attendance. And we also had time to say a birthday shout out t@Fisayo who though was absent, @Specobelle was on point as always.

Always happy improving the maps and connect here!

It was a great meetup despite the light showers. Actually my first.  Looking forward to more meetups. The accessibility walk was worth it.

Great to also meet fellow LGs. Google Nigeria is next on the list!
