[ReCap] Local Guides of Valnerina MEETUPNORCIA (double meetup: 3-4 june 2017)

English version belowmeetup_norcia_3_4_giugno-evento-facebook.jpg

Sabato, primo Meetup: aiutare Norcia.

ENGLISH

We have come back to everyday life, but not for a long time, read the post to the bottom and find out why.

After 2 days like superheroes, with the "Local Guides in Action" superpowers, we are back home with a great experience that can’t be canceled: helping others makes us united. In this case our support was given to those small business who need to keep running their business. The recipient of our support was the one who has completed all the paperwork and then, in spite of everything, cannot communicate to others where he is; he cannot because people knew his old shop and now he has to explain every time, to all customers, that he is "behind ..." or "close to ...". These people are those who now try to work in a prefabricated building, or in a hauling van equipped as a shop, but bureaucracy does not help the “online”. Some of them (the most experienced, the native digital or with good web service) have already relocated to the web platforms, but most have not.

LOCAL GUIDES, are socially committed with their passion: with smartphones, tablets and Chromebooks, side by side with reflexes and 360° cameras, they sit at the table and walk around the streets. they check: here you are, you are missing, you have to be claimed and you, unfortunately, are closed. media give their support: online newspapers and national TVs are interested in the lives of these unstable economies.

The bigger problem has gone, the damages have been counted and our eyes are looking forward to tomorrow, but now it is necessary to create the economic recovery that also starts from the community, the future situation can also lead to a more serious problem than the previous one if it is not left 'standing'. But let us remember that nothing can be done without the will of the people involved in the proces .

Let’s go back to our two days, a double Meetup dedicated to many topics.

Saturday, the first Meetup: helping Norcia.

After an out-of-school lunch, we organized free training sessions on the use of Google Maps and Google My Business.

In the St Benedict Square stand, around 15 participants supported people who had devoted their lives to a name, brand and now they would like to continue to use it in the new location. The feedback received from the participants was positive, people realized that real life goes through the web. On the same day we showed the StreetView Trusted program and we highlighted how having an updated Google Maps tab can only give benefits.

During the afternoon we visited Father Benedict, the Priest of the Benedictine Monks who ran the San Benedict monastery. He told us the difficulties after the earthquake and what they have implied for them and described how they are now resuming their monastic activity in a wooden structure built quickly.

We ended the afternoon with a light refreshment offered by one of the open companies: the Norcineria Felici. A "table of tastes" awaited the community: the true salty products of the Norcia tradition delighted the Local Guides and, a sweet surprise offered by the Chocolateria Vetusta Nursia ended the refreshment . The SWEET truffle is a secret Arianna’s recipe . At that point Local Guides could only write their reviews on Google Maps describing emotions they had with the products.

The following day, the second Meetup started: Contributing as Google Maps Experts and illustrating passers-by on how to use cardboard.

During an intensive morning we organized the positions of unmanaged small businesses the day before, as a source we took the data collected from the institutions and operated an extreme map of delocalized or delocalizing companies.

Second part of the day: a virtual visit by Cardboard of destroyed artwork.  Norcia suffered deep damage to its churches, but four structures were photographed with the StreetView Trusted program. Adults and children were astonished by what technology was hiding in their smartphones.

At 1 PM we moved the group for lunch organized at a local company, the same company that provided the Cardboard to all the participants: “Macelleria Casale De Li Tappi”. A family lunch made with salami, cheeses, Norcina pasta and a maxi BBQ.

To digest the abundant meal I took the group, along with an expert hiker (Giovanna thank you for the availability), through the Torbidone torrent, a small river that formed after August 24th earthquake.

After the mini hike the group split and, together with the people who stayed, we visited a local dairy that uses only milk of pasture-raised sheep.

Now the group has been given a new appointment: a second edition of the Local Guides Meetup on mapping by Local Guides in Visso (MC) on June 24 at TUTTI AGIBILI event.

The basic idea is linked to social collaboration with a unique objective: our support for the promotion of people who want to continue to be active, despite everything,

What about doing the same thing for Amatrice?

For now mark:

#MEETUPVISSO
