Check the Facts: green indicators should change again

green and orange indicatorsgreen and orange indicators

The behavior of Check the Facts at the moment:

Open cases are signed by an orange bullet with a plus sign. If you have checked a fact it turns into a green bullet with a check mark. The green sign remains forever. 😉

My suggestion:

The green bullet should change back to orange again if another proposal for the same place is posted by a local guide or google maps user. This would allow local guides to see at first sight that new suggestions are online.

(At the moment you have to click all the green bullets one by one to search for news)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, @Anonymous. I would like to discuss the different options with you to make sure the idea is explained the most useful possible way. Would you say there is a difference between an "open case" without any suggestions and one with multiple ones? Would you say it would be more convenient to use different icons for those two? Probably when having multiple suggestions you need to know that the icon is clickable so you can check the possible options.

@IrrPavlova

Thank you very much for your comment.

I am sorry, my mother tongue is German, so I thought about a possibility to explain myself better - perhaps with an example?

20181126_001159_bearb.jpg

The Screenshot shows a place where I am used to go every day. There are 19 green bullets placed on the map, all of them are places where I have already checked a fact in the past.

For one of these 19 places someone submitted today a suggestion for a change of the opening hours. But how can I know? All of the bullets are green and all of them look like the same. So that's what I did:

I clicked on the first green bullet. Nothing happend...

I clicked on the second green bullet. Nothing happend...

I clicked on the third green bullet. Nothing happend...

... and so on ...

I clicked on the tenth green bullet. And - surprise! - a pop up came and showed me the new suggestion!

I thought of a possibility to make it easier to find a new suggestion and had the following idea: what if the tenth bullet was not green like all the others but orange like those suggestions where I haven't checked any facts in the past?

I am sure, this would help me to see the new suggestion at first sight and not needing to click all the green bullets of places without any new suggestion.

What do you think about it?

I just heard about this idea on @JanVanHaver's podcast. This idea is  now Closed but we can still support your idea, @Anonymous. And I have done so.

I have checked quite a few facts over time and as far as I remember some places have showed up more than once. If all the places I have checked facts for should be on the map, then there would have been more green check mark pins than is shown now. So I think that there is a maximum on how many pins can be shown on the check facts map.

If that is true, then that could explain why I have seen places reappear as orange at a later date.

But it sure would be handy if the pins could indicate the number of facts that needs attention rather than just orange and green.

Cheers
