Hello Local Guides!

Previously in the mapmaker, There used to be an option for one to map building areas like a big flat and indicate it under one name. Also besides that there used to be this option to allow one to map a road or a river following it downstream till the end of that river maybe it empties itself into a lake. But using the current tool for mapping I find this options missing.

Is there something I am not aware of or that option is nolonger available in google maps anymore.

Hi @JonasKL, 

This is shape editing (defining buildings, parks, rivers or streams) which has been disabled in MapMaker for a while. The only thing similar that still works is adding or editing roads (streets, paths etc.). 

Since MapMaker will be retired in March, its editing tools are gradually being ported to Maps although for us, users, it is unclear if these vector editing tools will also be transferred or not, and if yes, how they are going to work. 

This means that (apart from roads in MapMaker), there is no way to edit these shapes at the moment. We need to be patient (and hope to have them back at a time in the future).
