@Anonymous, deleting your photos from Google Photos shouldn't delete your photos from Google maps.
Personally, I have deleted some photos which I take solely to upload into maps. After I'm done, I'd delete them from my Google photos and phone. I can still see the photos on my contribution page.
@Anonymous, definitely agree that missing contributions (photos, reviews, etc) is not a good experience.
I have just done a test by deleting a photo from my Google photos. I'll give it 24 hours for the system to update everything and see if the photos still shows on maps. Will circle back. Wish me luck!
