When we launched the new and improved Connect in 2018, we created topic sections to make it easier to find the posts you’re most interested in. But conversations flow and evolve naturally, so we’re introducing a few changes to the familiar boards.
Announcements are now Highlights.This new name better captures the posts Googlers share on the board: Google Maps and Local Guides news, but also fantastic stories from our community.
How-tos has an added purpose.The How-tos section started as a place for Local Guides to ask questions and exchange tips on how to make helpful contributions. Now, you can also share your feedback about Connect and the Local Guides program helping us make this platform better for everyone.
The Idea Exchange is going away. Thank you for the hundreds of ideas over the years! As we work towards improving the experience for everyone on Connect, on January 13, we will close the Idea Exchange. It will disappear from the left-side menu, but your ideas will still be visible on your Connect profile and remain in our records.
You are welcome to submit suggestions and feedback about Connect and the Local Guides program in How-tos after January 13. We will let you know if your idea gets implemented here on Connect! For ideas about Google Maps, we encourage you to send feedback in the app, so it reaches the Maps teams directly.
