There are several reasons for an edit to be not applied. Everything is detailed in this post: Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”?

Good morning, that happened to me, but in that case, you could ask us to verify the data, the phone or something, in order to attach more photos.
It is so many times, if we take more photos to upload them when adding a site, then the photos do not go in the order in which they should go

Local Guides cannot verify edits if we don't have a personal knoledge of the place. This is against the program rules

What is maybe quite important in this discussion:

Behind the approval is standard mechanism. Means in my opinion all are treated in the same way. 

I have about 10% of pictures not shown on the place and I guess as well about 10% of my edits are pending where of about 20% (from the 10‰) are finally not approved.

What I like to say: Not approve can happen to everyone, so it can't disturb my gaming addiction 😉📸📸📸📸😉📸📸📸

Hello @Jesus_Lopez, it's a common misunderstood think Google need us, to check, verify, etc.

Google ask only for the data we provide: photos, add and edit places, don't need your human flesh, only your data and knowledge, nothing more, nothing less. For them there is no problem here and, if it had, can change this forum and start happily again. It has happened before and it could happen again.

The program rules explain clearly that nothing relates us to them. It's voluntary and there is no reward than useless points. It may looks like a contest or a race but is not.

We don't work for them and they don't work for you, they work with data and photos, yours or anybody, now or any moment.

For now, in this forum, moderators group our sadness or anger in this topic, that's all and that's where it ends.

After all phases, starting with illusion moving to anger and disappointment, if you continue it's because you like it, don't bother Google.

hello @CarlosAnido, it's not that, I like to help, I also use Google Maps, and I like to see that when I go somewhere is fine, or at least it is published, I know that Google does not give anything, but I see this as a group of people who share their moments, is that if I add a site and this takes time, I can know why, usually when I add it, I add it with the company manager. Like both, I'd like to see that company on Google Maps.

Dear @DeniGu i have tried to add palce (which is marked on the picture below) but it always shows as pending . I have visited this place many time & have picture of it but Why it doesnot get approval ?

@Trkatel , the status of "Pending" means it is awaiting review.  It does not mean it's been denied.  You should not submit it again, but should wait for it to be reviewed.  If it needs human review then it might take a month or two before it gets approved.

Hello @Jesus_Lopez,if you are in the Help Desk forum sure you like to help and love map the world, we all share the same intentions, without doubts. We all want to improve it also and nobody likes waste time.

I admire all of us here, people from all over the world with the same problem, "Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”?", trying to make it better and, for now and before, the answer is a little hard to swallow after so many efforts.

I read this post everyday and lately it's like a pit, somebody asks "the question" and some moderator takes it and puts it here, tells you to read and that's all. The first comment is from 12-29-2016, nothing changes, it's not true?.

I have noticed that many of the areas/colonies on the maps are named wrongly.I have sent feedbacks via app for the same but names are still wrong. Like there is no AERD Society in Rewari,Haryana,India but it is on google maps..The area  is known as TP Scheme-9 and Suncity now.Many small villages and cities are also named wrongly.

There should be an option to change the name or atleast to suggest the correct name .It should ask for any verification document with address of that place.

Put this feature at the earliest because these areas are shown above everything when we open the maps.

The conclusion I ended up with is sometimes you just have to let it go. Some instantly denied approvals are just an obvious fail of the AI and there's nothing you can do about it. An obvious example: 

I have filled all the possible info (and also tried a lot of variations, including adding from pc with photo included) but the AI simply failed, so I gave up. This is not the first time happening.

Bottom line: AI has its issues and when you can't make it happen move on

If you guys get a row of NOT APPLIED newly added or edited places, one by one, this is perhaps likely due to the fact that you could have low trust with the algorithms that review edits, they told me in this forum in the Mapping Your World section that's now been closed.

The only way to fix this issue is to make a lot of good edits over a very long period of time (it happened to me in August 2018 and isn't over yet), edits which will still be not applied  in th meantime - thus pretty much a waste of your time. Google does not override low trust score but rather your trust must be earned over time I've been told.

Following this, I've ditched Google Maps and moved into OpenStreetMaps to give my accurate (so the other fellow users say) contributions to the mapping world, quite the opposite of what the Google algortihms may think of my editing.

@FintoCubano  that may or may not be true, but I tend to believe that's not the reason, because I can easily add lots of other places and do edits, most of them instantly approved. It doesn't make sense for one specific place to be rejected like this given the full info I added. I stick to my initial theory: the AI is broken in some specific (and unknown) cases

@Toni_is_traveling I brought an example based on my experience based on true facts. I gather your experience differ from mine, since you now mentioned you can add other places that are approved instead.

The fact that only ATMs are rejected it may mean there is a saturation level of ATMs added to the map in that particular area or you are adding too many places of the same category in a row (I remember that from the Google MapMaker days). I don't tend to believe ''the AI is broken'' as you say, rather I think it's the algorithm that is preventing you from ''spamming'' (if it perceives so) the map with several instances of the same category.

It will be quite difficult to edit "bank related" POI, after the recent attack in Russia, Ukraine, and other CIS countries. Known Issue: Map editing in Russia, Ukraine and CIS countries

The same issue in adding ATM have been already reported in other post, so it's not your fault nor something related to an hypothetical "score" of your account, @Toni_is_traveling

Существуют у нас и запреты на фото-видео съемку в некоторых магазинах и в салонах (хозяин сказал нельзя фотографировать-значит нельзя)Ну а вдруг Ваше фото несет стратегически важное сообщение тогда уже государство решает пропустить фото в открытый доступ или нет.

Already about a month I can not add any place in Belarus. All new places are automatically rejected. However, changes to existing places are approved. Am I banned? Can't any of the users add space or just some users? No emails and notifications about this issue came to me. I had to add the same place several times. Until January, everything was good.

It will be quite difficult to edit a POI in your country, after the recent attack in Russia, Ukraine, and other CIS countries. Known Issue: Map editing in Russia, Ukraine and CIS countries

This is, hopefully, a situation that will end soon, but is needed to keep the integrity of the information in Google Maps. Sorry for the inconvenience

But why there were no notifications to users? I tried many times to add the same place, but the only information I found was “we were unable to confidently verify the information you shared at this time”. Even on the link you sent me, nothing is said about the fact that users cannot add new places. Why is it impossible to give a separate notification to all users who are trying to change the information in CIS countries? 

And why it is impossible to allow edits, for example, from local experts of level 5 and above, who by definition are not spammers?

Well, in an emergency, @SergeyZharko , the most important action is to restore everything to the pre-spam situation and to identify / block the spammer.

If they were able to edit, in a coordinate action, hundreds of different places, they are for sure highest than Level Five, Sergey. You can reach Level five with 20 reviews. Is this enaugh to ensure that a level five cannot be a spammer "by definition"?

If you read the post that I shared to you, you will find a couple of Ideas, by myself and @Oleksandr  (How-to-handle-fake-edits-epidemic-BY-establishing-weighted-score) to try to limit edit approval through Fact Checking.

I have indicated the fifth level just for example. Instead, we can approve edits from users, say, the eighth level and higher. I have the eighth level and all my new places are rejected. But the main problem is that I have still nowhere read the information that nowadays all edits in Belarus are being rejected. Therefore, I cannot answer my initial question: am I blocked or not?

It's been like a overrun here in South Africa, where fake spam places are created left right and center with just a name, no website number or any information...  

In the meantime I created/added a new business where I attended with my toddler, added all information plus pictures and it's still pending.....but the pictures are getting views.

Seems if your not a local guide and you create/add a missing place it gets approved instantly, huge flaw in the algorithm.

I didnot talk about the edits of the places/businesses . I am talking about the names of the areas/colonies/villages/cities, which are already set by Google and can't be changed by us.. For example, there is an area called CONNAUGHT PLACE in New Delhi, already put by Google but we can't change the name or details ,so there should be an option to suggest changes or send feedback to change that particular name or details.There are lots of areas which doesnot even exist now, mainly in India.. Whether update it or let's update it by means of document verification as I mentioned before.

Here, we can't change the name and details, which may be wrong.

There is no place like this is my hometown but this is shown on Google maps and the area is named as TP SCHEME-9 now. There are many areas whose names are incorrect or not put,which is really important to be there.

@ErmesT if there were no bans, real experts would very quickly correct the wrong edits. Decent and honest experts are much more than spammers. Is there something else behind the prohibitions? You give us service. We give you our time and content. This is a mutually beneficial cooperation. Maybe Google moderators completely relied on robots and forgot their responsibilities for checking added places and facts? It's easier to ban everyone than to solve a problem - the Soviet totalitarian method))) Thank you. From Google, this is unexpected. Sorry for bad English.

The Google algorithms analyse different factors, such as the information submitted, the location of the input, your mapping activity, and other factors to make sure everything added to the map is accurate and follows our guidelines.

There are regions around the world where there is simply not enough information for some edits to come through successfully or immediately and it certainly has nothing to do with you personally. The more information you (or other Local Guides) collect about a place gives your input a better chance of getting through.

Hi everyone,

I am facing this problem from the date when i started adding places on google maps

Recently a new Shopping mall just opened a few days ago in my city &. I saw that it was not registered on google map. Then i clicked some photos and added a new place with its name andaall the details except mobile number on google maps but when i check in my edits it mentions that not applied or approved, something like that. Then what does it mean. Whenever i edits or add a new place this will happen everytime. Please help

try to apply again and add some more details like map marker, mobile number, correct name, description and some photos.

make sure to select the correct category on google map. sometimes it happens when you choose an incorrect category or fewer details for the location.

When making an edit we take into account a lot of different factors to make sure everything added to the map is accurate and follows our guidelines.

Because there are some places where the provided information is not enough, the edits might take a little while to be checked and applied, so make sure your contributions are as detailed as possible. While your edit is being reviewed you might receive an inquiry to provide additional information as well.

I just realized it just needed one change and submitted it.

So I am a level 7 guide and I tried to correct the names of some business because they were stuffed with multiple spam keywords and the edits are being instantly not applied ?  why?  Does Google have a process in place to request a manual review or am I just wasting my time making these suggested edits?.   When a dentist has 5+ spam keywords added to the business name and Google instantly declines my suggest edit something tells me the process that Google has in place to determine an edit should happen needs to be fixed asap.

Any progress on why (as it seems) all ATM edits are blocked... within up to 5 minutes I get denied from removing of descriptors from an ATM name, or location, no matter which bank ATM belongs, so GMB is most probably not the reason...
